Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK... BTW, from my experience, Be tweeters are the way to go when done right although I have absolutely heard silk domes and ribbons that sounded amazing as well. As with most things it’s the implementation as much as the materials. Crossover quality an...
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK... I think Doug Schroeder and a couple of others have made excellent points. Try hearing the A3 with some alternate pairings, it’s unfair to make a pass/fail judgement when it’s likely just a slight incompatibility issue.
JL Fathom repair They redid my F112last year and it is as good as new now and has some of their 1 year repair warranty left on the clock. The way that JL and Randy stand behind their products is admirable and the service they offer for $300 is basically unbeatable...
Luxman m-900u owners - quick question Yup, whitecamaross is your go to guy for this beast
Pre and Amp Suggestions I.......did not know that. Thanks for the clarification Atmosphere. I learn something new every day. Cheers
Pre and Amp Suggestions Thanks Atmosphere, I am already a balanced practitioner. Much prefer gear that is truly differential. Not sure why you say the ARC is not balanced, the LS25 and VT100 is used to own definitely were. Though I do agree they were on the bleached side...
Pre and Amp Suggestions I have been following WCSS thread over the past year or so. The Luxman has been getting rave reviews but I can’t get past the 70s styling. (I know shallow). The JRDG rec of the 625s would not leave anything for a preamp, however, I have been keepi...
Pre and Amp Suggestions I do like PS Audio as a company. I watch the Ask Paul series and get Copper magazine as well. Not sure who carries them here in Canada but no dealer on the east coast seems to. Leaves me with a remote purchase or the used market for most things. I...
Pre and Amp Suggestions Wolf....too funny, and too true. I have always had a soft spot for Dan’s work and used to run a pair of his KMA100s back in the day. My first real taste of hi-end sound. I have considered a 302e, however they seem a little scarce on the used mark...
Pre and Amp Suggestions Thanks auxinput. Yes I meant the xa series. Even though I self eliminated class A amps, these I would make an exception for. I’m going to keep a close eye on the Pass marketplace over the summer, hopefully a nice gem will pop up. Thanks
Pre and Amp Suggestions The Pass integrated is definitely on my short list. As are the x60.5 monos. Either would be within my $10k used budget.
Pre and Amp Suggestions Sorry, that is an important question I omitted. My budget for pre/amp or integrated would be About $10k
Revel Ultima Studio 2 & Pass Labs XA30.5 If you still want to stay in Pass class A, you may want to try the XA60 models. They should do everything you need from the Studio 2s, which, in my experience are not nearly as hard to drive as the Salons are.
My JL Audio sub is dead. What exactly happened? Use a hairdryer to gently heat the periphery of the backplate where it has the gasket seal underneath. After a couple of minutes going around, you should be able to lift it from the cabinet.
