Does upgrading you system have to be on a logarithmic curve?
The last 10% is the most expensive 😀
Purifi v Gan amps?
@mazian  Unfortunately, you are going to have to listen for yourself. No one can honestly compare two (really) Technolgies.  Within each one of them, the differences are going to be all over the place. @ricevs is right.  Pick two within your budg...
Turn an Intel macmini into a music server
@mrjayvoper  Nothing wrong with the “figure 8 cable” per se. You just need a better one than what the Mini comes with. Pangea makes a good one for not too much money.  Hope that helps.  https://www.amazon.com/Pangea-Audio-Signature-Power-Cable...
Turn an Intel macmini into a music server
Can be done. You will need at least a better power cable and software like Audirvana to get good results. A dedicated music server such as Melco is still better but the Mini is hard to beat for the price. I had fun with mine for a while.
Replacement for my Thiel SS1 subwoofer
How about a Thiel SS2?

Horizontal vs Vertical biamping
I got you. Take your time. Read up about it. It is actually simpler than it sounds. In your case, you can get good results using a two-way xover and leave the mid and high frequency drivers connected to the passive crossover. Look into Marchant cr...
Bookshelf speakers on a bookshelf (Sad)
@uncledemp  Contrary to popular belief, the people in your life are more important than your stereo.   Everyone here values their families more than their stereo system. When my grandchildren are around, I put everything on hold to enjoy them....
Horizontal vs Vertical biamping
@backdoor  It seems that the crowd is pushing you towards active electronic crossover 😀. They are right. Look into it, and when ready, give it a try. It’s worth the trouble. It will be an eye opener.
Room tuning or listen to as is condition?
For frequencies between 20HZ and about 250HZ your room will be the dominant factor. Although I use an array of 4 subs, I still used REW and some room treatment to get the best bass my money can give me. Strangely, getting the bass right did a lot ...
EgglestonWorks Andra in nearfield?
Nothing mini about these speakers. They were not designed for near field listening. Try to audition them before buying. They need room to breathe. Good luck.

Horizontal vs Vertical biamping
When you are ready to go next level, try an electronic crossover. No rush though since you are happy with the sound as is now. You will thank me later 😀. Your wires are fine. Morrow is a good and proud establishment. Enjoy. You have respectable ge...
Bookshelf speakers on a bookshelf (Sad)
@ghasley is absolutely right. No one build a new house and worry about where to put his gears later. Unless he doesn’t really like audio. That’s a lifetime opportunity. The poor wife might even have nothing to do with the ordeal. She might just be...
Horizontal vs Vertical biamping
My experience has been similar to yours. Are you using an active x-over?
