Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD RR is still around - https://referencerecordings.com/
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD It is a Reference Recordings LP, RR-7, 45 RPM, "Professor Johnson's Astounding Sound Show" All the tracks are excellent, the track I mentioned above is 3rd cut on Side 1. I don't know if this was ever put on CD. If so, I'd buy it!
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD @fleschler - Actually, that LP was recorded in stereo. Very early stereo but indeed stereo.
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered. That is good to know! I wouldn't expect LA to approve it, given how picky they are.
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered. Either way, I don't see any AHJ issuing a permit for residential use of this equipment. Yes, NEC 647.7(4) allows for use in restricted situations but as you pointed out a residential home does not qualify. Gosh, I wonder if the audiophile owner...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD An interesting discussion, I found the posts quite informative. I won't speculate on the particular setup or why one sounded better than the other did. I will say no one can deny the LP has made a significant comeback. Clearly, it is not f...
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered. Update on Equi-Tech: I found a more detailed description online about how it works. Yes, the entire balanced line concept is a well known and well defined power distribution concept. Envision how balanced interconnects work except this is for ...
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered. I was at Home Depot last night and I picked up this unit for my home workstation. For $40 it is a very good unit and well worth the cost. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-12-Outlet-USB-RJ45-Coax-Surge-Protector-with-6-ft-Co... The...
Mystery of the whistling amplifier I'd buy another set of tubes and try them. If they don't fix it, no worries, tubes don't last forever. This sounds like it will be a trial and error fix since a lot of things can cause this. Cracked solder joints can do this, so a reflow of t...
GARY BEDINI and JOHN BEDINI have passed on 11-6-16 I knew John back in the day when I consulted for a couple of audio companies. They built great stuff and it sounded very musical. I remember at CES one speaker designer I worked with telling me that the newer amps didn't sound as good as the Bed...
New Pangea Audio AC-14 XL Power Cord I recently upgraded from stock line cords for entirely different reasons than sound. My wife got tired of looking at all the black power cords hanging down behind the rack, so I bought the Pangea cables as a cosmetic upgrade. They were the best...
To buy grounded or not to buy grounded. That is the question. Cleeds is correct. When equipment manufacturers put a power cord on with a third prong, they really want you to ground their unit. Not doing so creates a safety hazard, sometime a lethal one. Yes, if something internal fails or breaks you ca...
Measuring DC offset. That DMM is showing a couple of different things. First, with an open input you are probably picking up some 60 Hz noise. Try shorting the input and see if the fluctuation changes and DC offset settles down to either a positive or negative num...
Anyone used these audio ceramic slow blow fuses from Littlefuse? I designed a lot of equipment with Littelfuse devices. Not all of them are cheap, some are pretty pricey, the last 10A, 600VAC ones I used were 20$ each in quantities of a 100 but they are all very good quality. The gold does make sense, there ...
Yter cables direction Just to be clear in my head, we are talking about AC audio signals without a DC bias and not audio signals on a DC Bias, correct? |
