A problem with AC Power you may not have considered.
Yes, the Furman is very similar to the Equi-Tech unit and no permit is required to install it, a most definite plus.   I am sure it is a solid unit but like all balanced 120VAC units, there is no safety code approval for this.   The datasheet did ...
Spatial Coherence
I am rebuilding one with new dual mono power supplies and built in UPS system.   I also had a new motherboard made for it, so only the original valves and chassis are used.    I'll post here how it turns out, I still have a few months of work to d...
Does a ripped cd onto a digital format sound better than the cd played on the cdp
Actually the process of pulling the bits off the CD disk is an analog process, not a digital process.   However, once it passes through the comparator, it is indeed a digital signal.  For this reason, I feel a lot more confident that the music fro...
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
Actually, I believe folks here are confusing photons with protons.  If you get photons in your cables, your least problem is sound quality.   Rather you have an arc happening inside the cable, which won't stay inside the cable for long.Signal and ...
New $24,000 inter-connect
Air tube cables have been around for a very long time.  Auto FM stereo is what brought that on since the antenna is far enough away from the radio that a super low capacitance cable was needed.   I'm not sure if they are still using it or have som...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD

Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
It is a Reference Recordings LP, RR-7, 45 RPM, "Professor Johnson's Astounding Sound Show"  All the tracks are excellent, the track I mentioned above is 3rd cut on Side 1.  I don't know if this was ever put on CD.  If so, I'd buy it!

@fleschler - Actually, that LP was recorded in stereo.  Very early stereo but indeed stereo.

That is good to know!  I wouldn't expect LA to approve it, given how picky they are.

Either way, I don't see any AHJ issuing a permit for residential use of this equipment.   Yes, NEC 647.7(4) allows for use in restricted situations but as you pointed out a residential home does not qualify.  Gosh, I wonder if the audiophile owner...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
An interesting discussion, I found the posts quite informative. I won't speculate on the particular setup or why one sounded better than the other did.   I will say no one can deny the LP has made a significant comeback. Clearly, it is not f...

Update on Equi-Tech:  I found a more detailed description online about how it works.  Yes, the entire balanced line concept is a well known and well defined power distribution concept.   Envision how balanced interconnects work except this is for ...

I was at Home Depot last night and I picked up this unit for my home workstation.  For $40 it is a very good unit and well worth the cost.  https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-12-Outlet-USB-RJ45-Coax-Surge-Protector-with-6-ft-Co... The...
Mystery of the whistling amplifier
I'd buy another set of tubes and try them.  If they don't fix it, no worries, tubes don't last forever.   This sounds like it will be a trial and error fix since a lot of things can cause this.   Cracked solder joints can do this, so a reflow of t...
GARY BEDINI and JOHN BEDINI have passed on 11-6-16
I knew John back in the day when I consulted for a couple of audio companies.  They built great stuff and it sounded very musical.  I remember at CES one speaker designer I worked with telling me that the newer amps didn't sound as good as the Bed...
