how can a line cord affect frequency response ?
The power cord doesn't affect frequency response, however it can affect dynamics and in some cases become an antenna for RF. When RF gets into your amplifier, then it can affect the sound in many ways:bright, lean, hard, glassy, etc. Normally, the...

I have information, as well as some spare parts. What do you need to know?
AC cord polarity?? Does it matter???????
Mitchb: I don't know why your power cords would be reversed, but to meet current NEC codes, they have to be polarized the the right way. For your basic 115 V three prong cable, the big one is earth, the wide one is neutral, and the smallest one is...
The best speaker you ever heard?
Rwwms: I am not familar with your loudspeaker, but the "..just be ready to hear something that doesn't sound like a speaker." Hey! I like that! What a great line!
What happened to the loudness control?
Eldartford: Thanks for publishing the data again. I have been offline for the past week or so due to some reconstruction of my home network. Your data is very interesting. Who made your subs and what drivers are you using?
DIY cat 6 FEP "TEFLON"
JeAudio: You certainly put some serious effort into this! I am glad you had good results. A couple of questions for you: Did you have any amplifier problems driving the capacitive load? Did you build a Zorbel network on one or both ends? and, Is y...
What happened to the loudness control?
Eldarford: Really? You have consistent efficiency in your subs across the entire voltage input range? I would be most interested in your studies. Many, if not most, subs or speakers for that matter, have consistent efficiency across their entire v...
What happened to the loudness control?
Eldarford: In the example I gave you, I used 100% of the volume control simply because there wasn't enough gain in the system. During that period, my volume control would be at max most of the time, not at 90% or any other setting.Tell me how your...
Best audio cable
Check out http://www.bluejeanscable.com/ This is the way to go for best video quality. At least, you know what your getting as opposed to hype.
What happened to the loudness control?
Eldartford: What you wrote isn't exactly correct. Although few folks will turn their volume up to max, there are ocassions when that becomes neccessary. I have experiemented with amplifiers with sensitivities so low that my volume control was at m...
Question about solder
Silver solder is only 4% silver, the rest is tin. You can pay more for it, but it is still 96/4 when you are done fishing out the money for it. The problem with silver solder is it melts at a much higher temperature, so it is more likely to ruin s...
What's your profession? Age?
Analog Engineer (Amplifier Design Consultant), 54 years, stereo is at 50,000 - not counting the 2 home theater systems or the system in the garage made of left over high end stuff. I think I have another 15,000 or so of high end gear in the attic,...
Transformer Hum
Listen to Newbie, he has the right solution for you. If you have TV cable hooked up anywhere on your system, that is the first place to look.
What happened to the loudness control?
The reason the loudness control was dumped is simply that no one has ever come up with a circuit that worked 100% of the time at 100% of the volume settings. Consumers eventually figured this out and preferred not to own it.
