I absolutely love these speakers. I have been a dealer for Wilson Benesch for about 14 years. I started taking them to the RMAF the first year there was a RMAF. We always had a tremendous sounding room. I think I might have coined the phrase I use...

Thanks Al I am not an owner nor was I ever a dealer for Audio Research and did't realize they did not offer an RCA input on their amplifiers and I sure don't like adaptors being used on interconnects.RegardsJim

No guess here......the deHavilland Mercury 3 ..you will love it....big sound ....sounds like real music...no strain. not forced....large sound stage....just sit back and enjoy....and ask yourself how come nobody else has discovered this company....

What is the best way to tame a slightly bright speaker?
I think that either the speakers or the amplifiers may be bright sounding, however I wouldn't start by replacing them. An overly simple solution might be to fit a small piece of foam over the tweeter, one where you could add a piece of cloth over ... 
Higher Efficiency Speakers
Lots of speaker to choose from and some are good sounding. The important thing is to keep your amp set up the way it is. Simpler is better, lots of speakers will work just fine.

They must be over dampened to keep the aluminum out of the music thereby giving them a chesty sound. Actually eric that is a "nice"  way to describe the sound

I am a member but I am extremely busy discovering new ways to "coat " speaker drivers so as not to make them sound worse but extract more money from audiophiles who think that represents technical advancements...please do not disturb me.....
