High end Audio for ladies? Check this out
Mrty...keep it simple will you ? This isn't Harvard psychlology class here. Speaking only for myself and my own personal experience, good friendly audio shops have been the exception, not the rule, at least for me. Now that's my personnal view. As...

Ibog1, interesting point of view and I thank you for your comment. I will be the last to say that so far the high-end audio experience has not been mainly a masculine thing. Again, nothing wrong with that to the same extent that we are mainly talk...
High end Audio for ladies? Check this out
Pookine, it just occured to me that maybe the answer lies with the title of a song on one of the most celebrated of all ''audiophile'' recordings - Belafonte at Carnegie Hall - and his song.... ''Man Smart (Woman Smarter)! ''. There it is - a ray ...

The post from Mich4T is interesting if not too flattering for us males. Notice his link and relationship between the notion of ''very manly man'' and ''Big Krell monoblocs and Wilson Grand Slamms''. In one sentence, he cracked open the marketing c...

I am very glad to have ''stumbled'' on this site that speaks Audio to women, and especially happy that it is generating a healthy discussion. Being a marketing strategy consultant for the past 15 years, I am often faced with designing strategies f...
What sounds best integrated or separates?
Camera analogy, read on !I can think of a dozen amp / preamp / interconnects combinations that just cannot match the quality of a fine integrated, be it tubes or SS.The chances for a ''mis-integrated'' systems are great. Also to consider, the tria...
What is a good amp to pair with a set of Quad 22L2
In line with the price level and performance, I once paired the 22L'S with a Cayin A-88T integrated, and also an Arcam A-85 - great sound for not much money....
Do you have a secret "guilty pleasure" recording?
William Shatner ''Has Been''CD. Captain Kirk himself. This is no joke. Men Without Hats ''Safety Dance'' early techno that is acutally quite fun to hear.I also agree with Karen Carpenter - effortless vocal beauty.
The most haunting music you ever heard?
''Reunited'' by Peaches and Cream. OK that's a bad joke. For me, ''Cavatina'' from the movie The Deerhunter if pretty haunting. A few more can be heard on the Cd ,''John Williams plays the Movies''.There's something about movie themes and music th...
RIP Oscar Peterson
Rocc1007, what do you mean ''no great interest here on the other side of the border.'' I travelled for years on business trips all over the USA and stayed at countless hotels where there was a pianist at the lounge. I usually came up to them to as...
White Album, when's your last listen?
''Blackbird'' motivated me to purchase my first-ever guitar, a Yamaha FG-180 (a staple of beginner's instrument) all those years ago, and this song became my first-ever learned song, complete with the foot tapping! Second-ever learned song was ''R...
Freak Me Out
''Has Been'' by none other than Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner.A revelation, and this is no joke, a great cd.Is it a talking man with music or music with added lyrics? Lush production, lush sounds, it's a great oddball recording that I enjo...
when is a speaker considered full range?
I have heard many speakers that where ''full range'' but never delivered the goods. There are some that do deliver of course, and I was privilidged to own such a pair, but the price was ''way, way up there'', and I just couldn't stay with them as ...
CD Dead??
Cd will probably end up the way of the vinyl record - meaning it will be replaced as a mass market item, but will remain a very long time to a somewhat smaller and specialized market - audiophiles. CD's will probably even sound better in the years...
