Suggestions to upgrade from Lyra Delos
Also *if* you splash out on a higher end arm in addition the Kuzma take a look at Schroder CB or BA arm.Anyways for medium compliance I would also suggest reaching out to Ana Mighty Sound in Paris. They are longtime Audio Technica users, cart reti...
Suggestions to upgrade from Lyra Delos
+1 @dover regarding putting funds towards arm ( as a rule of thumb; no disrespect for the Audiomods arm ) @dducat which version Trumpet do you have? The current one with the dc wallwart or the old tall one or the reference? Just curious. I’ve hear...
Custom Phono interconnect build-out shops or vendors?
Dave Slagle has been posting about different silver qualities etc. I bet he ( intact audio ) would build you a nice set...
Suggestions to upgrade from Lyra Delos
Would be interesting to check into. Since 10g is on the moderate side and 20g is quite heavy it is not always a matter of ' can the counterweight balance it'. On the heavier side lies a number of interesting carts; Anna ( as you mention ) Phasemat...
Suggestions to upgrade from Lyra Delos
I see the v6 arm offers variable effective mass up to 22 grams. Is it known to be a good match for carts that work best in higher mass arms? What is the upper threshold of cart weight it can balance?
Acoustic Signature TA-2000 tonearm
Have not heard one. A general comment is that the effective mass ( in general and especially for the 9" version ) is low enough to make it not likely a good match for heavy and low compliance carts. Maybe this is a concern maybe not.
Which to upgrade first: Turntable or Phono Preamp
Table first. Sure a better phono will 'reveal' what the table is doing but it's harder to know what it is 'not doing'. TT (new or vintage) at or over $2k is around where it starts to get serious...
Biggest bang for the buck in retipping a new Denton DL103R
Andy Kim, Soundsmith, VAS, Anamighty Sound, etc. all can do excellent work on a 103...all for less than $1k. Imho if you spend more, as suggested above, other carts are more sophisticated. One noteworthy exception in the Sculpture A cart line manu...
Technics 1200G phono recommendations
Hagerman Trumpet. ~1/3rd your budget new. Buy some super duper 12ax7sI've not heard v3 but I spent some time with a v1 and its really good.
Technics SL1210GAE + Accuphase E-480 (AD-50) + ??? (cartridge)
@rauliruegas thanks for the detail! I am aware of Accuphase as an excellent manufacturer. While 66db is enough, within the context of the preamp requirements, my comment was simply that a cart of 0.2mV output will put any phononstage to the test a...
Cart adjustment, that moment when you nail it!
@wolfie62 - 105 carts!?!...redefines 'I"ll take all the carts' ;)
Tone Arm for Miyajima Zero
I own/use a FR64S and it sure is an awesome arm but you would need the much more costly FR66S for the 12" mounting. If vintage isn’t your thing, and if you are looking for something less costly than the Glanz, the Groovemaster II will handle the c...
Technics SL1210GAE + Accuphase E-480 (AD-50) + ??? (cartridge)
I do not have direct experience with the Accuphase AD-50 phono, so my comments come from general experience: I would hesitate to jump into a 0.2mV cart unless user experience strongly suggests the phono is up to it. That's quite a low output and g...
Matching SUT for Benz Micro MC Gold
Klyne and Uesugi Bros....nice :)Cart loading is very preamp dependant so if you have never used the Uesugi phono section it will involve several unknowns. (Best load, and if higher ratio sut into lower sensitivity input or lower into higher sensit...
Ortofon SPU-ish sounding cartridge for medium mass tonearms
Are you talking about a VPI arm? (my comment based on your system page)You can get more specific answers if you identify the arm(s) as there is sometimes synergy that goes beyond effective mass calculations.
