The MoFi Mess and TAS rolling over for them
I don't think there was deceit. Perhaps not being as honest of every detail about each stage of the mastering. Does anyone care about the number of bits in the DSD file or the size and speed of the tapes used? Come on.  All we should care about i...

What about Speakers Corner? Excellent, discounts available, but for some reason they don’t get that many titles. My Steely Dan Can’t Buy a Thrill is from them and it's incredible. The AS UHQR doesn’t tempt me, but if anyone out there has my reissu...
MoFi controversy
I was under the impression that any authorized retailer selling Mofis had to charge list price and not scalp like what happens in the resale market. I think Elusive Disc buys from individuals AND manufacturers, and in this case they probably paid ...
MoFi controversy
Hey Raul - where did you get that (only $10K left) from? They’re selling it for almost double retail. It’s sold out on the retailers who carry them straight from Mofi, Acoustic Sounds and Music Direct.   You can probably get a better deal from pr...

Because it sounds great on vinyl too and I only listen to records.
Where did you buy your first audio gear?
Can't believe nobody has mentioned Korvette's, that long gone 60's-early 70's era precursor to Target, or maybe Walmart - I was too young to know anything - my Dad got it for me for I think my 14th birthday. It was an "all in one" one piece (of cr...

My Cannonball Adderley One Step is pre-sold out and not even shown to be able to be preordered anymore. Mofi is overwhelmed with demand and every One Step ever made in the last 5 year has sold out. Maybe this nonissue (to me) will cause the resale...

@mijostyn - the energy dissipated by the vibration of a very low mass arm onto the stylus (like a Rega) is less than the vibrations coming up from the motor through a platter, no matter how heavy. It is 2 different philosophies. I would be intere...
Why not?
If designed properly, in theory, batteries can provide cleaner, more consistent power, avoiding the noise of the power company. Even the best designed power conditioner can’t filter all the noise.

@mijostyn - gotcha. I thought the Sota was around $4K. Also thought you like Schroeder arms. You should be a turntable market analyst/consultant. BTW the record clamp/device I asked you about works nicely, really for thinner or warped records - th...
MoFi controversy
@grislybutter  - That is why the source is so important to my system and why I don't tolerate inferior quality records. I think there is good depth to the sound without the fuzziness, and of course high detail and very fast transients. For my spe...

@mijostyn  - I was surprised to hear you prefer the Thorens over the SOTA that you have gushed about in the past.
Why not?
A few additions/things to consider:   1) Puritan power conditioners come with an excellent power cord (maybe because they use a different plug in their device) and allow you to upgrade it when you order  it 2) Rega's tonearm cable runs straight...

@chaskelljr2001 - you match the phono stage to the cartridge - it has nothing to do with the turntable. I have the Sutherland Insight LPS and really like how quiet it is, and it's very straightforward design. Matches nicely with my van den Hul One...
MoFi controversy
@grislybutter -  Forgot to mention gris - I like clean, detailed and dynamic, to me warm means distortion. That's why I like the KEFs. Also, I think they represent excellent value because they are made in China at a much lower cost (although with...
