Record collecting versus hoarding It was just the higher the hi-fi, the smaller the collection. Kind of a predictive theory. The extreme is one stereo dealer I know complaining that the crazy audiophiles that keep him in business only want to play Brubeck’s Time Out and see which ...
Record collecting versus hoarding I guess @mijostyn goes against @mitchagain’s theory of big collections being owned by lo-fi systems…..
Record collecting versus hoarding Not interested in moving my spreadsheet to discogs. Right to privacy and all that. If I ever sell any, it's mostly just bringing to my local record store, and sold one or two on eBay. I am registered on discogs just so I can get market value of r...
Record collecting versus hoarding Anybody else keep a spreadsheet?
Record collecting versus hoarding How about Greg living in the tent?
Record collecting versus hoarding @fdroadrunner - if it takes you a couple minutes to find a record, I think you are in need of intervention. If you have 5500 titles either you listen a hell of a lot more than 15 hours a week or there are hundreds (thousands?) that you never liste...
Record collecting versus hoarding @mitchagain - that is a very interesting theory. The audiophiles should theoretically be more careful(anal) about their collection, but that doesn’t explain all of them, especially the equipment hoarders. 17 turntables? Come on man. I am definite...

Turntables @secretguy - that's a big caveat, and are forgetting about the tonearm. Some TT experts think that is the most important. I put it equal to the cartridge/phono stage. When you were saying turntables are the least important, I was talking about the...
Turntables The turntable can certainly affect the sound negatively by transmitting (and possibly increasing) internal and external vibrations. Being the source of the sound, it is the MOST impactful component @secretguy. Not sure what you are smoking.
Turntables If you can properly isolate the table from vibration, I’d go with Rega. If that necessitates a wall shelf, that can be a deal killer.I’d avoid a unipivot arm and buy from a local dealer for support. Not a big deal for other components, but for tur...
Turntables That's not a P10. It's an RP-10 - different arm, etc. P10 is much improved. P8 will beat this one I believe.
Steely Dan Catalog on UHQR Vinyl how about technicolor motorhome?
