Gold coated brass speaker spades These truths do also reveal that for audio applications the differences will be so small that most of consumers won't notice and purchase fakes with happiness. @czarivey No, it does not reveal any such thing. Unless someone compared the Chin...
new member, some questions, need help please I don’t think those older inverted-dome metal tweeters are competitive with today’s better designs and will likely need to be tamed by electronics/cables. I’d go listen to some of Wilson’s more recent designs with a silk dome tweeter and see what ...
Power cord upgrade I’ve been impressed by reviews of some direct sellers that are worth exploring as they offer high value and generous free trials. On the lower end there’s the Ice Age OFC “Frankencable” and on the pricier side there’s the Snake River Signature bo...
Sound insulation advice for home theater room in middle of the house? This book has a lot of great info. Chapters 6, 10, and 11 in particular would be helpful for tips on room design with instructions any competent contractor could follow. http://www.gedlee.com/downloads/HT/Home_theater.pdf
Separates vs Integrated It’s that synergy that has me wonder about a high end integrated vs what I have. Well that’s just a total non starter. If you can’t be more specific about what specific improvements you’re looking for, even people who happen to own your pre and...
Speaker Suggestions for Next Move Reasons for Changing. They do not sound harsh or bright. I'm not thinking of moving on because of that. I'd like to get a bit more depth to the soundstage and more finesse in the overall presentation. Depending on the tube amp I’d highly re...
Gold coated brass speaker spades @tkrtrb125 +1 Copper: The second most conductive metal, and the most common choice for audio cables. Copper cables are perceived to have a more balanced, "warm" sound. I’ve often wondered about this. I’ve got both silver and copper and have...
Gold coated brass speaker spades Chinese retailers were selling fake Harmonic Tech, Nordost, Siltech and other 4...5- figure priced wires for around $100 per pair and finding lots of success @czarivey That don’t mean squat. Anyone listening to the same cable one made of brass ...
Gold coated brass speaker spades It's all about brass being same as OFC and even Silver. All three materials can be used in audio wires and all will sound nearly same. @czarivey You’re kidding, right? That’s just an absurd statement, and nobody makes cables out of brass wire...
Separates vs Integrated You’ve got a nice pre and amp so begs the question what specific improvements are you looking for? Personally, and especially if you like the sound you have now, I’d look to upgrade your streamer first — something like an Aurender N200 or Innuos ...
Speakers for Gryphon Diablo 120 I'm sorry to be such a disppointing person to some of you You’re not disappointing anyone here, and in fact we’re just trying to help. If you don’t agree with some of the suggestions being made that’s fine. The thing is, the KEFs aren’t dark ...
Speakers low pitch humming, is it normal, or real issue with preamp? Could be a ground loop. You could try using a cheater plug to lift the ground on the preamp, amp, etc. and see if that eliminates the hum. Not a long-term solution but at least you’ll see if that’s the problem and then go from there. I suppose ...
Solid State preamp Brands This completely depends on what sound characteristics you’re looking for. Also, what’s your budget and are you looking for new or used?
Looking to upgrade my Goldenear Triton ones. Need help When you say “better midrange” what specifically are you looking for. Better or fuller tonality, more clarity? And are you looking for new or used?
Speakers for Gryphon Diablo 120 If the Gryphon sounds dark to you, why are you trying to fix it with bright speakers? I’d look for an amp that doesn’t sound dark to you and then maybe your KEFs will sound great. Why are you bending over backwards to accommodate this amp? Just... |
