Why Do ~You~ Still Play CDs?
However, I still find CD’s to have a bit more depth, detail, and just a tiny bit extra level of air @kingbr  If you add an Iris or Hermes DDC before your Pontus and take advantage of the i2S connection it will up your streaming performance sign...
Anything that sounds similar to the Dynaudio Confidence series?
The Joseph Audio Prism is around $3600 and offers a good amount of the performance of the $10k Pulsar and would be well worth considering.  The Revival Atalante 3, Fritz Carbon 7, and Reference 3a MM DeCapo Be are also excellent and worth explorin...
Why Do ~You~ Still Play CDs?
It’s not practical to spend more money to buy streamer and pay monthly subscriptions.  @jayctoy  For the price of about one CD per month I have access to hundreds of thousands of songs via Qobuz — many of them in hi res BTW — and discover aweso...
Balanced wiring for Sennhesier 800 S
I and several others here have bought LavriCables headphone cables and have been very impressed with their performance, build quality, and value.  Here are the cables they make for your ‘phones… https://www.lavricables.com/cables/master-silver-se...
Experience up-leveling streaming with USB cables?
I've read that 1.5M is the ideal length for a USB cable used for audio. @sls883  I’m not sure that’s the case with USB.  That was once thought to be the case for SPDIF and AES/EBU digital cables but I’ve since read that as digital has evolved t...
Hermes added, question
Yeah, take the Symphony out and just let the excellent Hermes do its thing.  Sometimes less is more.
Why Do ~You~ Still Play CDs?
Since I’ve gotten my streaming setup to sound as good or better than CDs the only time I bother to spin a CD is if it’s not available on Qobuz, which isn’t very often.
Retirement integrated amp for a “fiscal conservative”
Well, you might really enjoy a hybrid integrated that used tubes in the preamp section but solid state amplification so you get the best of both worlds and the tubes last a long time and are relatively cheap — best of both worlds. Here are a coupl...
Dynaudio C1 or B&W 805 D2
To me the 805s (I heard the D3 version) sound very detailed but clinical and sterile.  If you liked the Dynes I’d stick with them, or even better go hear the Joseph Audio Pulsars (the original version is fantastic  and a great value used) for a re...

In general, one of the major benefits of i2S is that the data and clock signals are carried separately so the DAC doesn’t need to go through the extra process of having to separate them when the signal comes in as it does with all other inputs.  T...
Fiber is Coming to my neighborhood
Sweet!  I bet it’ll sound awesome and I’ll definitely check the review.  I decided to go with a tube pre for the first time and digging it — a LTA MZ2 w/ upgraded LPS.  Enjoy!
Fiber is Coming to my neighborhood
Ha, I’ve got the same amp. Did you get the full gravity base? All great DACs you’ve got there. I’ll throw out a thought — I have a Musician Pegasus R2R DAC that shares a lot of DNA with the Denafrips Pontus, and when I put an Iris DDC between it a...

What’s your budget for a DAC and streamer, and are you looking for new or used?  Also, what sound characteristics are most important to you, and what’s the rest of the equipment in your system?  Sorry for all the questions, but more info leads to ...

@davegolf2424  Unfortunately I don’t have direct experience with them as I use an IFi iPowerX (not optimal but better than wall wart), but going by what others have said and in order I’d look at Teddy Pardo, SBooster, and LHY but I have no info on...
Help me pick a new desktop speaker
Well, I see a lot of recommendations for specialty-type speakers and I’m sure most of them are perfectly fine , but if it’s me I’d like something with a bit more credibility. Most of these companies recommended above only make low-budget speakers,...
