Something amazing - what would you buy
I have in mind removing all the sheetrock and getting back to the studs as I thought it would make the wiring easier and allow for a sound barrier and then rehang the sheetrockIf you’re going to do that, which I think is great if it’s in the budge...
Can anybody be a speaker designer?
It requires no qualifications. It is not REGULATED. Kinda like why you’re able to keep posting here.  Aren’t there some Bose drivers somewhere you need to modify?
AV Receiver Upgraded
Unless there’s a newer feature on the 4700 you need or want (4K, streaming, etc.), don’t bother and just continue enjoying your 4603.
Innuos Zenith mk3 complete disappointment
I agree with @grannyring.  I have no doubt you heard what you heard, but something somewhere seems wrong.  I haven’t traced through your setup to identify where specifically the issue may lie, but I know if I were you I’d take the time to figure o...
Better Integrated Amp?
I thought i would try and figure out what amp to get before figuring out what speaker to pair it with. Why would you think that?  I’d highly recommend you figure out speakers first.  Case in point — the Quad only puts out 45Wpc, which will limit y...
Integrated Amp Question for a Newbie to the Forum
Welcome!  Your speakers sold for $1250/pr. and I’d match the integrated amp accordingly making sure it’s comfortable driving a 4Ohm load.  You can get a Yamaha A-S2200 on Accessories4less.com for $3200 that can drive your speakers and provide a to...
Speaker recommendation $1000 or less you've had in your home
I prefer floorstanding 70s or 80s vintage three or four wayWhy?  Do they sound better with your 8-tracks and cassettes?  I’ve got a pair of Pioneer HPM100s if you’re interested.
Hegel h390 or h20
Preamps are so important IME.  If the preamp section of the H390 is significantly better than that in the H100 (which I’d guess it is given the price difference) I’d go for the H390 or maybe even a used H360 if it’s more on budget.  Just my 2 shek...
The anachronistic CD Transport? And do I really need one.
Ditch the spinning buggy whip and buy an Innuos Zen server/streamer, load your CDs into it and never deal with a transport ever again — and very possibly improve your streaming performance as an added bonus.  Best of luck.
TOTL cool running amps with fast 'warm up' time?
Look at Clayton Audio amps.  Class A but they have a low-bias switch so you can leave them on without heating the house or blowing up your electric bill.
A headphone outlet question for Magnum Dynalab 208
I’d get a headphone amp with a volume control and connect the tape out from the MD-208 to the head amp’s input.  I believe this should allow you to operate the speakers and headphones independently as the tape out bypasses the receiver’s volume co...
The Absolute Sound as compared to just sound? re: Headphones.
Since you’re a Maggie fan I’ll highly recommend the planar HIFIMAN HE400S that I actually own, but they are open back and leak sound that may bother someone else nearby if that’s a consideration.  They’re normally $299 but currently on sale for $2...
The Absolute Sound as compared to just sound? re: Headphones.
Do you have a budget in mind, and do you have the capability to stream music through Qobuz, Tidal, etc.?
The Absolute Sound as compared to just sound? re: Headphones.
To my dismay some of the "professional" reviews are using their phone or some low-fi device to evaluate a set of headphone's performance. I feel your pain brother and couldn’t agree with you more.  A little while back I did some research looking f...
