Am I Better Off With Limited Low Frequency Speaker In A Small Room?
I expect most audio salons don't have a clue how to set up properly. +1.
Static IP for Aurender N100H music server?
I’m having the same problem with my Zen Stream so you have my deepest sympathies.  Ugh.
Class D Amplification Announcement
@lloydc Have you heard any of the newer GaN- or Purify-based amps?  They’re not your father’s Class D anymore.
Amps for B&W 805 Diamond: Rogue Audio or Krell, Pass labs, ML, Accuphase
The Medusa, while being an excellent amp, definitely leans to the more detailed/revealing end of the sonic spectrum (at least with the stock tubes) and I’d be concerned that this combined with the 805’s likewise very detailed diamond tweeter might...
Amp recommendations for Hifiman HE1000 V2
@clavace No, that’s not a good match at all. The HE1000 v2 is rated at 35 Ohms and 90dB that makes it a pretty tough load, and the Chord only puts out 600mW @ 30 Ohms that is not nearly enough to power these headphones effectively. Here’s a quote ...
Class D Amplification Announcement
The bashing of audio reviewers by audiophiles who are themselves wannabe reviewers; it’s been sport as long as there have been audiophiles. Out of control egos who are so convinced that it is in their opinions, and their opinions only, where trut...
Help fine-tune my speaker search
You should really go back to Johnny R’s and listen to some ProAc speakers as I believe he sells them as well.  They’re very natural and organic sounding yet still nicely detailed and image/soundstage right up there with the Vandys with wider dispe...
Am I Better Off With Limited Low Frequency Speaker In A Small Room?
I'm not a fan of subs. There can be a discontinuity in tonality. I have never heard one in a room where I didn't prefer listening to music without it.  Due respect, you’ve never heard decent and properly dialed-in subs.  When properly integrate...
Sound bar
Sound bars are a compromise.  Far lower sound quality than something like a decent 5.1 system but takes up far less space, fits under the front of the TV, and is a lot easier to set up.  Although I’d never get one I can see the point for many peop...
Amps for B&W 805 Diamond: Rogue Audio or Krell, Pass labs, ML, Accuphase
The Medusa is a great amp with outstanding detail and 3D imaging/soundstage but I wouldn’t recommend it for the 805s unless you’re willing to do some tube rolling so of the two I’d side with the Krell.  With Pass I’d go with their XA series as it’...
New amp listening fatigue: Distortion or ??????
How many hours do you have on it?  It’s possible whatever’s bothering you may decrease with further burn in that can take 100 - 200 hours or more depending on the unit.
Help in deciding which tube preamp to replace my old SFL-2
Congrats!  I’m sure you’ll absolutely love it.
Midfi Integrated amp w/ phone stage recommendation
I think the Yamaha A-S801 is a very good suggestion, but if that’s the way he goes I’d buy it from Accessories4less as he’ll get a nice discount and it’s a very reputable site. He could get the prior model for only $650 or the new model that just ...
Streamer creates a Wow experience
@tubeguy76 Great!  If you could let me know what improvements you hear.  I never used the original power supply and don’t currently have access to it to do a comparison so I’d be interested in what you find.  All I know is it sounds damn good with...
Am I Better Off With Limited Low Frequency Speaker In A Small Room?
You do have an issue in that you have a square room, which will create significant bass reinforcement issues. I had a similar issue with my floor standers that go down to 28Hz, and short of bass traps or DSP/room correction the only way I could so...
