The MoFi Mess and TAS rolling over for them
I lost respect for Stone when his review of the JA Pulsars was mostly done using them as desktop speakers in his computer setup.  Who does that???  What an utter joke.

Better means strictly better sonic performance rather than features, a clear sonic uptick that’s obviously notable. If it’s slight barely able to tell better then it’s not worth the change. I’m mainly checking if my Constellation SS preamp is a g...

IFi Zen Stream with Qobuz
@smrex13 I’d suggest getting a Wi-Fi extender from TP- Link, etc. and going hard wired with a good Ethernet cable from that to the Zen Stream.  Not only does that apparently solve the connection issue, it’ll likely sound better as well.
NY audio show 2022
@bache Yes, your room sounded really good despite it being too small.  Not sure why you had one speaker with the grill on though — seemed very strange to me.  Spatial Audio and LTA room was another standout to me, along with GT Audio.  Although th...
Why aren’t there many used cables on the market?
Go to hifishark.com — always lots of cables for sale there on multiple sites.     @curiousjim Check this USB cable out.  Separates power and data legs and much less expensive than others… https://www.lavricables.com/cables/ultimate-silver-dual-u...
Sound difference between High\Low Gain Setting when volume matched?
Usually, but not always, setting the volume knob higher is better for sound quality as less attenuation is required.  My volume knob is always between 3 and 6 o’clock (i.e. fully turned up).

I'm really curious as to why Fremer left Stereophile for TAS. They must have made him an offer he couldn't refuse.I gave up on TAS when Robert Harley took over. @bdp24 I’m sure they coughed up big bucks for Fremer to lower his standards and dum...

Define what “better” means in your world.  Without that critical info this is just a fantasy exercise.
Non-Delta Sigma DAC in £800-£1200 range options?
@painter24 In most cases (Holo DACs being one exception where USB is the superior input) an i2S connection via an HDMI cable as short as possible produces significant improvements over SPDIF.  AES/EBU seems to be more on par with i2S, but it’s bes...

At least Stereophile does measurements and usually compares a review product to something comparable.  TAS?  Nuthin’.  Hell, many times they don’t even bother listing the gear in the reviewer’s reference system.  What???  Pure advertising and utte...

What improvements are you looking for, and what’s your budget.

TAS is nothing but a glorified product catalogue for their advertisers. Big +1.  TAS reviews read like product ads and nothing more.  Shameful and utterly useless drivel.
Non-Delta Sigma DAC in £800-£1200 range options?
Musician Pegasus R2R DAC is very neutral and at US$1100 is a great value.  Next step would be to get a DDC to take advantage of the i2S input.  Best of luck.
