Thin Line Between Critique and Courtrooms: A Dialogue on the Recent Audiophile Drama
Well, from digging into the Tekton review dispute I found that this was essentially the case with Erin’s review. @wesheadley No, it’s not the same case at all.  Not even close.  Go back and read the string of emails between Eric and Erin as app...
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
What works for you works for you. But professing what you perceive should apply to others’ perceptions and/or use cases? Better off having some evidence. @benanders Yeah, and if a frog had wings he wouldn’t bump his ass a hoppin’. Back in the r...
Streamer only
One thing people seem to ignore (correct me please if I am wrong) is that to use the "better" clock in your external DAC over the one in a "cheap" streamer, you must use asynchronous USB or I2S, otherwise the clock in the streamer is doing the "d...
Should Speaker Manufactures provide a Frequency Response Graph?
Eric at Tekton Designs has been battling two different reviewers who have posted measurements without his permission, using Klippel devices for their respective measurements. So what? They posted measurements without Eric’s blessing/approval? O...
Thin Line Between Critique and Courtrooms: A Dialogue on the Recent Audiophile Drama
No walking back those emails from Eric, and I found Erin’s responses to be perfectly reasonable and respectful. That’s just nasty behavior from Eric, and IMO he deserves all the business and reviews he loses because of it especially because he has...

Professing those perceptions to be “consistent, clear, and repeatable” for others is, however, either in honest error or purposefully misleading. @benanders So, you’re saying I’m not hearing what I’m hearing despite hearing it consistently afte...

Those French have a different word for everything!

In all my years in this hobby I only ran into a scenario where two different cables sounded almost alike once. +1 @audphile1 This has been exactly my experience as well.  After many, many interconnect and cable comparisons there’s only been one...
Desk speakers above monitors angled down at listening position
I’d look at putting them on stands on either side of the desk before resorting to that if possible.  If you’re not super concerned about sound and it’s more just for ambient music it’ll probably be fine as long as you can achieve the proper angle ...
Should I connect my OPPO BDP 105 to my PontisII?
Well, first I wouldn’t use an optical cable for to the Pontus as you’re introducing additional conversions to and from light transmission and it’s limited to 24/96.  Check the settings in the Oppo to make sure the digital outs are active and prope...
Digital with same soundstage as analog
Streaming is fine for background music and shopping for new music. Not my experience at all.
Should I connect my OPPO BDP 105 to my PontisII?
What output are you using from the Oppo?  The HDMI output is for A/V only and doesn’t work for i2S if that’s what you’re using.

And this has been demonstrated to take less time than many audio gurus assume. If comparisons are not a literal flip-switch, subjects can be quick to lose, alter or invent, context. A “trust your ears” stance is necessarily deaf to this ubiquitou...
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
But from what I can see the benefit, if there is one, will be most noticeable system wide. In other words, just switching one power cable the way I did before won’t be sufficient for you to tell a difference... again, assuming there is one. Tha...
Anyone pair a Mola Mola power amp with LTA Microzotl Preamp?
Both seem to be in the “white wine” sound category so if that’s what you’re after they could be a great pairing.  That said, I’m not sure the LTA is fully balanced and if the Mola Mola is that may be a consideration.  If there is a mismatch there ...
