Krell KPS 28c
Krell has a new player (sacd) that will be out this month.
Looking for an amazing preamp under $700 used
Best bang at that price is passive unit, will not work in every system though. Watch for a used placette or bent audio unit if you can go that way. The Adcom 750 also has passive mode. I have read that the F.T. audio passive at $500 new is good also.
Matching Pre-Amp for Audio Aero Capitole MKII ?
Tube pre could change the sound for you, that alone may make you happy. I don't think it will give you greater performance though. I agree with Golden_ears on the soundstage, move the speakers around a bit. I have a Krell ksa-250 with Bent audio T...
Krell FPB CX with Placette Passive Pre
Depends on which FPB model you have, sensitivity on the FPB's is on the low side. Also depends on your source output and speaker sensitivity. I use a Bent audio passive transformer volume control with my sony xa777es player. My speakers are VMPS S...
Nuclear Whales Saxophone Orchestra--Thar They Blow
Thanks for the info., I love the sound of sax. I'll check it out.
Preamp is an amplifier too, right???
Ehart, there is no jealousy. Most posts asking about pre amp are from people that still have a receiver. He starts out with cary monoblocks, my poke was ment more at light humor. To much money, tubes with solid state. I guess I could have left the...
Preamp is an amplifier too, right???
You have to much money, Cary 2A3 monoblocks with solid state, no way. Just for the info: How did you learn about a company like Cary and not know anything about audio.?
need input about speaker & interconnect cables
Do you drive the Krell with the audio aero capitole? What is wrong with your system? More info. What does it take to drive the Krell?
Question on 2 channel vs 5 channel amps ?
I have never listen to any Sherbourn amps so I don't know what they add or subtract from the big picture. You could do what many of us have done, add a two channel pre: passive or active with pass through for two channel. I don't know for sure, bu...
Which Amp for Magnepan MG 3.6/R?
The big thing with the maggies is the room, not the amp as most people seem to ask about. They are not that big a deal to drive. They need a good deal of room around them to work their magic. A lot of speakers are more of a problem than the maggie...
Zen and the art of home theatre adjustments
I agree with Edesilva, avsforum.com is as good as it gets fo info. on this type of stuff. I always set my sub at the processor and fine tune output if need be at the sub. The T.V. should also be the main set point, not the dvd player for video.
Why an active preamp with Rock-N-Roll ?
There is no reason that active or passive is better for rock music, take most of what you hear as what they know, anyone who is street smart and not book smart would tell you so. There is no reason why solid state or tubes are better for one kind ...
Think of buying a Magnepan Surround Setup
Maggies are a poor choice for hometheater, they may be one of the best sounding music speakers, but that does not make them a good choice for a state of the art hometheater setup. On the other hand, if all you are looking for is good, then go for ...
Why my system has detail but no body & warm vocal?
You can try one of these in your system for free, F.T. audio, placette audio, bent audio. All great passives and great bang for buck in the vocal department. As stated above, make sure room and speaker placement come first on your list.
