Dahlquist DQ 10, is it worth new woofer?
I had a pair of these in the late 70's, they have good output down to around 40hz or so. They need a good amount of power to come alive as they are very power hungry speakers. I loved the sound of mine.Dave
Can a passive pre-amp feed a powered sub?
Not sure you've thought your hookup plans out very well, how do you plan to control the volume on your second amp in your plan? I will say I know nothing about the sunfire sub so maybe I'm confused and your not..I hope it works out for you. Dave

F.T. audio's passive pre has two sets of pre-outs, one can feed your sub amp and the other can feed your speaker amp. It's priced at $499. http://www.ftaudio.com/
Tube subwoofers?
It would be best to use a passive sub with outboard tube amp if you wanted to go this way. I don't think think the tubes would last very long inside an active sub..plus there would be heat to think of, not a good idea for active.Dave
Just wondering
It is a scam that has caught a few people from what I've read, BEWARE!!!.Dave

Bent Audio passive pre with SA 102 amp.
The Plinius looks to be a good match with a passive from it's spec sheet. I have the Bent passive, mine is matched with my Krell Ksa-250. The Bent does not like source with very high output, most cdp's are around 2v output which with the Plinius w...

Need help connecting a single subwoofer to amp.
If the sub just has one input, you will not need a Y or both channels. Your amp will be fine with the unused channel. I have Vmps stereo sub with two input.Dave
Maggie 1.6QR vs 3.6R and Room Size
I hope you mean it's an open floor plan and not one room that size? It does make somewhat of a difference but still a lot of space to fill with sound. You may want to check out some of the horn systems on the market..they match very well with tube...
Need help connecting a single subwoofer to amp.
You have one sub out on your receiver so you run a y splitter into the two input of the Adcom, you then hook a pair of speaker cables to a stereo sub..sounds right to me. Passive sub needs an amp and amp need a signal. Something wrong with the Adc...
Preamps. Do we really need them?
Pmkalby, the signal is stored in the buffer, cleaned up and then released as a new signal full of PRAT, you didn't know that?Dave
Preamps. Do we really need them?
You would need to try your self..in your system. Two of the best systems at this site are at odds. Both use tube amps, one system has active pre..the other is a passive setup. Which is right and which is wrong? Opinions, opinions, opinions.Dave
