Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
In process of more networking experiments, better modem with Broadcom vs Intel chip in old,  outboard power supply, Mikrotic  CCR1036 enterprise grade router.
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
Always comes down to a very simple question. Who is one trying to please, measuring bot or oneself?   I have Merlin VSM-MM as second speakers, I purchased based on a number of listening sessions at audio shows and speaking with Bobby. Yes, Bobby...
Ethernet - Analog/Digital Signal Clean Up
I thought the Mojo dac usb inputs didn't require usb power, if usb board within dac not self powered could make difference. If that case, I'd try another input on Mojo dac, means not optimized for usb.
Audiophile fibre kits - worth it?
OpticalModule I ordered over 2 months ago shipped today, should have some idea how compares to generic FMC this weekend. Will be powered by lps.   I prefer my FMC and OpticalRendu vs several ethernet solutions POST server. I did NOT like FMC PRI...
Ethernet - Analog/Digital Signal Clean Up
I have some interesting experiments coming up. Have Netgear CM500 modem on way, DOCSIS 3.0 vs. crap Intel chip modems, also external power supply so I can lps it. Mikrotik CCR-1036-8G-2S+ enterprise scale router, will replace Netgear router/wifi,...
Is this a audioquest cable counterfeit fake?
I would not assume its fake based on packaging. I have many Vodka ethernet cables, all purchased from authorized dealers, packaging not exactly the same for all.
Upsizing Capacitors
As others have mentioned you better know what you're doing if changing capacitance. I will occasionally upgrade for  temp, voltage or tolerance, this mostly in power supplies.

I have one I've experimented with over the years,  I've probably tried on every component at one time or another. On some components don't hear much if any difference, over others a bit lower noise floor, but always loss of spaciousness, somewhat ...
Ethernet - Analog/Digital Signal Clean Up
@mitch2  I can't recall all your pre server configurations, but you sure have a lot going on pre server! My experience has always been post server far more important than pre, and simpler has been proven best up to this point.   I'm actually at ...
Sound quality of Roon
@jji666  Doesn't your admittance that some may not experience reliability issues,  and many testaments from those who also don't experience these issues prove there is no inherent reliability issues with Roon?   Now, I have no doubt we may see m...
Using battery power to go off the City's power grid
I never heard any hums, clicks when charging and listening with N.E.W amp, Merlin BAM or Rockpals battery pack on dac and different streaming equipment lps. Fan would be on with the Rockpals.
For those of you who had spent over hundred thousand dollars for your sound system.
Speaking of boats, I had competition ski boat a number of years ago. I live in Michigan, so five months usage max. At one time I figured out the cost per hour of benefit, outrageously high. Using same equation with audio system, extremely high ben...
Sound quality of Roon
In some cases Roon can be buggy if using many processes which taxes processors in many servers. For those using many Roon and/or HQPlayer dsp and other processes you're going to need a server with Intel I7 and above for seamless performance.   A...
Sound quality of Roon
Observation of Roon forums with those having issues, one will find problems nearly 100% of time individual in nature. Extremely rare to find a single issue universal to a particular version of Roon.   If there was a problem with a particular ite...
Did you notice....
Cd rips on local files outperformed both my Mark Levinson #37 and modded PS Audio PerfectWave transports. Over time improvements on network and streams virtually indistinguishable to cd rips. This with over 3500 rips, so wide variety recording var...
