Confession: I only like Norah Jones because so many others told me to
I have to admit to an inherent bias to hyped artists, far too often I find mass selling artists less than compelling. Having said that I've been surprised by the quality of some of these artists when I did give them a chance.   Light jazz not my...
After fifty years… amazing. What high end audio can be.
Congratulations on your system and enjoyment of it! I too passed a certain threshold a few years ago where engagement with the music far surpassed my analysis of sound quality. Sometimes I think to myself this level of sound quality is one of the ...
Is an autoformer (AVC) always superior to pots and resistors ?
Its all about implementation, no way, no how my system softens transients! In fact transient performance, especially of the micro type are quite incredible. Coincident Statement has likely the most robust power supply I've ever seen in a pre, much...
Best upgrade for SGC servers; LPS vs network switch
What electronic product isn't manufactured and/or doesn't use Asian manufactured parts these days.   I love to experiment and streaming gives me the greatest opportunity these days, AfterDark looks to be on cutting edge of that. Small Green comp...
Streamer upgrade? follow up.
Totally ignorant statement, sounds like some hostility towards Asian products here. The individuals here using the better/best streamers are those with the most experience.   By the way, wonderful streaming and audio products come from all over ...
Best upgrade for SGC servers; LPS vs network switch
@jerryg123  Not really, never owned or tried prior to this purchase. By the way Finisar is US company out of Sunnyvale California.
Streamer upgrade? follow up.
In all the time I've been on various audiophile forums don't recall a single instance of audiophile subjectivist going over to the dark side. Can't even begin to tell you how many moved in opposite direction.   I'd like to see a single documente...
Best upgrade for SGC servers; LPS vs network switch
Yep, the JCAT items all top flight products, using Optimo S ATX LPS on my custom build streamer, $6k, provides three rails all with 30amp capability, major, major contributor to awesome streaming.   Also, see Michael Lavorgna of Twittering Machi...
Best upgrade for SGC servers; LPS vs network switch
For those experiencing thin or dry SQ from optical I too have experienced this. The issue may arise in some systems due to incompatibility with generic FMC and/or SMPS or lesser quality LPS. Upgrading to Sonore OpticalModules with nice LPS will so...
Four Hour Tube Amp Warm-Up
I'll try to be more precise in my warm up time for this post. Much of the warm up time has to do with amp, tube and parts replacement. New tube components, or new tubes or parts in well burned in tube equipment never bloom in initial phases or hou...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
Forgot, but Coincident pre now also suspended same setup as 005, effective here as well, only slightly less than 005 suspended. 300B amps now on Stillpoints vs Aurios, more improvement here. I'll add Stillpoints Ultra SS are nice footers for 005 i...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@sirnui I don't doubt you're getting fine quality sound, but I still believe the usb input on 005 is optimal setup, only input galvanically isolated with dedicated power supply. Much depends on usb feeding it however, streamer needs to treat it wi...
Is an autoformer (AVC) always superior to pots and resistors ?
I can only say I love my Coincident Statement MkII pre with dual transformer volume control, superior to any pot or resistor based volume pre I've owned. Absolutely most stable imaging imaginable, no tracking issues whatsoever.
Kim Simmonds Has Passed @ 75.
Have many great memories with Savoy Brown music playing!  I'll have to play them during one of these holiday listening sessions, and with Christine gone, some Fleetwood Mac, both pre Christine with late great Peter Green and later stuff.
Why are so many people spending so much money to build “perfect” streaming system?
@mikelavigne  first post says it all.   And one can make setup simple or complex, spend a lot or not so much. You can get damn nice sound quality with lower expenditures, spending more gives marginal increases, and then one may get past this cer...
