What is your favorite type of tweeter?
Amfibius,I have to admit I've been fascinated with the concept of those Plasma designs. The Lansche speakers look to be amazing,in that they have a unique bass augmentation, coupled to a superb mid,and the Plasma tweet!!All,in a somewhat small pack...

Piedpiper.....DRATS!!! I've only gotten 12 hours on my Orpheus, because I'd not been able to play it for quite some time.I had some problems, which are about to come to an end,and was looking forward to SOTA sound in a matter of days..... Now a new ...

Piedpiper, are you referring to a "newly" designed Orpheus, with lower output, and better sound? This would be nice, but I can't find any info on the Profundo web-site. Thanks
Powerful Tube Amp for SF Strads?
I hope I can be of some help, though not directly. Last April,I was lucky enough to attend a superb demo of VAC,Zanden, and VTL electronics.... All A/B'd against each-other,on the JM Labs Nova Utopia speakers. This was in a good sized room, and we use...

I'll try to simplify this,to be a bit different.Since all other posts are so darn good already. Get a good(you'll enjoy it anyway)LP consisting of a "hand-bell choir".It may take some work to find, but this is superb set-up material, and gorgeous so...

Got to admit the ribbons used on the BIG Nola speakers blew me away.Unbelievable sense of air,and detail.Of course there were like a million of them on each panel -:) I've always thought my Titanium tweets used in my Avalon Ascents were still amaz...
Why are older tubes so much sought after
Actually to adress Blueranger's original question... In Tennis(I have played alot, for many years)one has the ability to choose the stringing type and tension as well as racket type, which will best serve one's game. In acoustic guitars, the same thi...

I have to give Raul credit. At least he is taking a "well intentioned" stand in favor of educating some "open minded" hobbyists that good sound does not automatically have to cost alot of money!! I have a friend who owns, and loves the Koetsu Coral ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Raul,I am curious. Are you now, mostly listening to MM cartridges?I know you have owned alot of differing designs(MC and MM),but am curious as to your "best"/most listened to design. Best

SME V, Tri-Planar or Phantom B-44
Firstly, very good point Halcro.Fuel for thought. Secondly,Downunder "THAT" scares me!!!... You of all people know (I assume) of the problems I had been having(if I was totaly honest, and actually named names, and was more specific as to the problem...

Well I have to second the sentiments of Sir Porter.Yet,and yet.....since we are in the "what do ya think" phase of this thread,I've got a question I am dying to get feedback on(if anyone knows at all,or some thoughts).... For those understanding t...
SME V, Tri-Planar or Phantom B-44
Dgad,of course I(being the yenta that I am)LOVE this kind of posting, from you!In no way do I doubt your findings, and hope my comments are taken as just hobbyspeak. The truth is,from my own experience(in my set ups over the years)as well as friends...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Raul,as in many "things audio",there always exists the "superb performer",for little money. No surprises for those open minded hobbyists, like you -:) The truly interesting surprise here is...."Knowledge IS power"! As a wonderful gent once mentioned...
