List of albums that will still be popular 50 years from now...
@bdp24 I think there lies the rub. Musicians will always listen widely to other musicians. But the vast majority of people are not musicians, just as the vast majority are not audiophiles, and thus a seminal and valuable voice like The Band is des...
Robert Lee recommends Triode Corp, but...
Tom, thank you for the suggestions! To specify, what about an SET amp or integrated that puts out more than 25w? Also under $3K used? And holds up well against the LSA?or is that a pipedream? ?
How to hook up a preamp to a Integrated amp
@maplegrovemusic That it is. I'm on the lookout for a specific Triode Corporation integrated to perhaps replace it only because Robert Lee at Acoustic Zen raved about the synergy between my Adagios and Triode Corp. gear.
How to hook up a preamp to a Integrated amp
I rolled NOS Amperex 7308's into my Statement's pre-amp section with huge results from the stock 6922's. The Statement's pre-amp section is quite good; and I've heard from Wally that John Tucker does not like to modify the Statement into the State...
Best pressing of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto?
@rcprince That's what I figured. But I love "hearing" his technique on violin and how this recording lets me 'see' what he's doing.
List of albums that will still be popular 50 years from now...
Some thoughts:As a few have pointed out, this thread reflects the age and ethnicity of many of us who think the albums that shaped us will have to live on. 50 years is a lot of time in pop music. 50 years ago, in 1966, a sea-change in music AND c...
Best pressing of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto?
The original pressing of the '56 Heifetz rendition arrived the other day and I cleaned and spun it. Beautifully recorded; Heifetz's violin was right there in the room with me; the recording and mastering of the accompanying orchestra seemed a bit ...
My journey to search for standmount bookshelf speakers...
Reference 3A de Capo i.  One of the best standmounts under $5K you can find. Available used for around $1500 to $2000.
Downsizing from VPI HW-19
Hey all,So - here's some resolution of sorts to this issue.Thank you to everyone for all their advice. I tried a dial out indicator and that didn't help at all so,  sparked by the idea of servicing the turntable, I contacted VPI, who gave me the c...
Accidentally dropped Benz cartridge on moving acrylic platter for my VPI Scout
I did the same thing with my Benz onto my VPI HW-19. I dropped the arm short of the platter, then overreacted and jerked the arm up so it bounced off the record. Damage? Maybe the Benz cantilever is slightly off on the azimuth. I've used a Geodisc...

Best pressing of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto?
Thanks, all. Just ordered the Heifetz original '56 recording from Discogs AND the Acousticsounds reissue.
Best pressing of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto?
@rcprince Curses! I meant Leonid Kogan's 1960 version. Thank you for looking through the collection, though.
Has anyone NOT listened to their system for a long time?
@mechans This is exactly how I feel (minus the neighbor influence)! I, too, am hesitant to add on to a system with a music streamer. Why, I don't know. Am I a reluctant old fart? Probably. My DAC has a USB input that I've used maybe once or twice ...
Is my Onkyo Receiver toast?
I would hazard the Onkyo.  For some reason the processor in the Onkyo is sending an inaccurate signal at that frequency. I would take it to a repair place and have them do a bench test.
