Does anyone leave their amp and preamp on all the time? I turn mine on Friday evening for the weekend. My phono stage is tube; the rest are ss. I rarely listen during the week.
Speakers Bought Brand New For The Cost Of A Good Night Out, That "Kick Ass". Elac B6s - for dinner and a decent hotel with hot water, I got a beautiful pair of budget monitors!
Inexpensive Tube Amps @pawlowski6132 And that's why audiophilia as a hobby is dying out. I mean, anyone who's interested in good sound should be considered fairly, whether or not they can "blink" at dropping 10 G's on a component. If someone's blinded into equating mon...
Inexpensive Tube Amps @will62 I checked out the Gemtune online store after looking at your links. Much of their stock is marked "Sold Out", though they still have the Amazon model available for the same price. They also feature several Yaquins, which are significantly ...
What component to hang on to? I have a pair of ASW 110's waiting to replace the AZ's. Abd im not stressed too much about making a killing off the other components. Having said that, I'm also not going to let them go to tire kickers, either. I know summer is the off-season for...
LSA speakers? LSA, now owned by Underwood HiFi, was founded by Larry Staples, with engineer savant John Tucker adding his expertise to the mix later on. I think they were DK Design beforehand, though I can't be sure.Anyhow, I don't think they make their amplifi...
What component to hang on to? Thanks, all. Based on everyone’s advice, I’m going to hang on to the VPI and start shedding the rest. My wife insists I don’t have to because we might not be in the financial position to ever rebuild it, but I disagree: there’s always financing :)...
Oppo Ceasing production It occurred to me that despite my beloved Oppo105's clarity and flexibility, I rarely use it to spin discs, even with a 500+ cd library (I know, not that much at all). I usually stream Tidal through my phone or through my laptop via a 3.5-RCA conn...
It really comes to something when a brand as iconic as Gibson Guitars cant stay afloat! @jond Yes, Taylor Swift is almost singlehandedly responsible for keeping the acoustic guitar business still relevant to the under-18 crowd!Gibson reminds me of Harley or Margaritaville or similar brands created by and marketed to the over 50-crow...
Stand mount loudspeakers Also, what's your budget? What musical tastes and listening habits do you have?
Rega RP8 or Pro-ject Xtension 10 They're both good, well lauded tables. I would think the RP8 is slightly better build quality and I'd prefer the Apheta to the Sumiko, but either will do you just fine.
I'm thinking about a Jolida system, and would like to know from those in the know! Ive had a JD9 Mk 2 for a few years now, tube rolled, and am quite happy with it. Good presence, adjustable on the fly, nice gain for low mc's. The Jolida folks were always prompt and knowledgeable.
Bookshelf speakers for Onkyo A-9070 amp The Elac B6's are incredible and well lauded for $300. Stereophile rated. ASW 110's are quite nice. Reference 3A Dulcets or de Capis also punch and perform beautifully.
Loudspeaker for second system Tons of options. Are you looking new or used? The Elac B6's are phenomenal. There's also a pair of ASW 110's available on Agon now that would completely satisfy you.
Decware and SET Low Power Tube Amps with Hi Efficency Speakers I was interested in Decware for a while and talked extensively with Steve Deckert about my speakers (AZ Adagios) and listening preferences. I went so far as to drive up to Peoria where Mr. Deckert set up an audition with several of his amplifiers,... |
