My Oppo is a bit too bright
@ivanj  That's one thing I've been done yet, has plugged my Oppo into my upstairs system / TV / and play with the filters there.
Mo-fi Ultradeck owners - popping noise from speaker upon power off
This is pretty common. I forget the electrical reason for it, but when you have a signal feeding from whatever source, be it digital or analog, into the amp, then when you turn off that gets looped back and get a little crack at the end. The lower...
My Oppo is a bit too bright
Thank you all for your comments. To recap:1. The Oppo’s DAC is its weakness and I should look for an external DAC2. The Oppo’s DAC is quite good and can’t be bested unless I want to spend more money then it’s worth.3. The Oppo itself is a gem of a...

@jayctoy that's a good call.
My Oppo is a bit too bright
@jafant That's a good description of the Oppo's sound. Just a bit too bright and smooth. As @soix points out, I've invested much, much more in my analog rig than in my digital end.
Slight hum coming from preamp/amp
Pretty true. Most electrical thingies emit some sort of acoustic noise, especially amplified by speakers. Don't worry about it. Enjoy the music

@jayctoy Good call. I have a pair of Audioquest IC laying around. I'll try those. @millercarbon  Yeah, yeah; I know. But still.
My Oppo is a bit too bright
So I'll be honest, I rarely use the Oppo for CDs anymore. Since I have lostless Tidal, I mainly use it to stream tracks from that service, tho I still play a CD every now and then. If I were to maybe sell my Oppo and invest in just something to st...
Helping friends and relatives buy an audio system...
Recently I helped a colleague put together a system he was happy with. Knowing he didn't share my extreme passion for audiophilia, though he did appreciate listening to music on my system, I gave him a mid-end Onkyo receiver I wasn't using, then h...
The secret to a great amplifier...
Question: How would a fuse affect sonic performance? I'm not contesting; I'm just curious?
Can an “audiophile” ever be satisfied with a system?
According to my wife, a definite NO, despite my protests! She’s right. I’m happy now but there’s always the lure of the audio grail out there. Like, do I really need those synergistic PHTs? No. But I know they’ll do something to my system.
A bit more punch than my Pathos?
Update: spinning Mofi 45 Brothers in Arms now through an LFD LEIV SE.  Huge soundstage, nuances everywhere, music just projects beautifully. It's everywhere. I'm happy. For now.

Springs under turntable
@noromance   You mean triangulate the springs under the turntable, rather then under each corner?
Springs under turntable
I just received and installed these springs under my VPI HW19 Mk4. They replaced existing tapered rubber feet which I then put beneath the SAMA. Big, noticeable difference in depth and instrument location. Just an overall, more palpable listening ...
