Best headphones you've ever heard/used
I have a 40G iPod and many pairs of headphone of different types. For nighttime listening, I like the Sennheiser HD-650. Many people will tell you that iPod cannot drive the Sennheiser but it is just not true unless you like to listen to heavy met...
Center Channel for Martin Logan Aerius
I agree with Harry. No matter what you choose, even using identical speaker, it is impossible to get a seamless integration in a small room because the placement of the center is so different from the left and right speakers.

Stylus Cleaning Schedule?
You really should clean or dry brush the stylus before every side. Both the stylus and your records will last much longer. Playing a dirty stylus is like dragging sand paper inside the grooves.
Speaker Break In ?
This will not work. You need to play them at normal listening level.
SACD - Dying already?
Both AAC and MP3 can sound very good or very bad depending on the bit rate. You can't just say one is better than the other. In my experience, ripping a CD to 320kbs MP3 VBR sounded indistinguishable from a CD. At 128kbs, both formats sounded harsh.
Hum Problem with Grado
Cserbell,In your case, it was not caused by motor vibration. It was caused by the electric magnetic field generated by the motor since the Rega placed its motor under the platter near the center. You may try to reduce the hum by lining the undersi...
Hum Problem with Grado
This is odd. The only thing on the Aries that might cause hum is the motor but it is on the other side far away from the arm. It shouldn't cause the Grado to hum. Does the hum get louder as you move the arm towards the spindle? If not, I don't thi...
SACD - Dying already?
I think you might be right. My local Tower Records has recently removed the SACD section. The Best Buy, I used to be able to find SACD at a very reasonable price, has not stocked a new title for many months. I hope it will have a second life becau...
Any DAC better than the MF A324 Upsampler?
If you don’t need to decode 24bit signal, I would recommend a used Theta Gen Va. I know it has been out for a few years. But IMHO it is still one of the most musical DAC around. I have seen it listed here for as low as $1,200. I don’t know how one...
Is this rude?
If my intention were to buy used or from online stores, I would not audition them in my local dealer or use them as a source of free service. I wouldn't call it "rude" but it is just wrong in my book.
Grado Sonata 1.5mV, 4.5mV, and 0.5mV for VPI
Wrtickle,If you think you might have EMI problem than you should definitely go with the lower output one. It is less sensitive to EMI.Chazz,I got the new platter and ring clamp upgrade for my Aries. The VPI ring does not require centering device. ...
Dynavector 17d2mk2 and JMW
You can add a small amount of mass to the head shell. The best way to do this is to add one or two small stainless steel washers between the screw head and the head shell. The distance from the head shell to the pivot is long, it doesn't take much...
Does Your System Sound Like the Real Thing?
Sometimes my system sounds better than real - I like it better than the real thing that is, but it doesn't sound real and I doubt it can ever sound real in my lifetime.
Help with integrating Internet Cable and Directtv
Viggen,To get internet connection from CATV, all the switches and spliters in the signal path must be bidirectional. I seem to remember those diplexers are not. Before you buy it you might want to double check.
