what are the thoughts of stand alone super tweeter At my age, approaching big five O, I appreciate a great mid-range much more than a good tweeter. So super tweeter does absolutely nothing to me.Unless you are young and have 20/20 hearing, IMHO, don't waste time and money on super tweeter.
ZYX cartridges Despite his colorful English, if you listen to Rock music, I will have to agree with Redtop. It is difficult to beat a Shure V15 III for Rock music at any price, especially on a SME 3009 series 2 arm. But I don't know where you can find a new styl...
VPI motor makes loud pops when turned on & off Joe, Mine only has one .68u in it and it has no pop whatsoever. Where does the .001 connect to? Is it in parallel with the .68u?
VPI motor makes loud pops when turned on & off The value of the cap should be .68u 400v. You should be able to find it in RadioShack. Capacitors are not very precise. Any value around .68u will work. Just make sure it is 400v or higher.
VPI and 78 RPM I think it is the opposite. You will need to put the pulley for 300rpm motor on a 600rpm motor. That will double the 33.33 rpm to 66.67rpm. You than adjust the SDS frequency upward to make that 78rpm.
best speaker cables in the 2k to 3k range ? Willie,Just a suggestion. When you shop for speaker cables, don't start with a dollar amount. Speaker cable is one of those things that higher price doesn't mean better. The interactions between the power amp, the speaker cable, and the speaker mu...
JVC XRCD versus SACD You are going to get a lot of opinions on this. To me, I don't find XRCD sound that great. But that is just me. The only way to know if you like them is to try a couple. eBay would be a great source to try them on a budget.
Help with setting up a laptop lp to cd burner IMHO, the easiest way is to get an Alesis Masterlink. It is a stand alone unit. You don't need ADC, no software, no USB cable, no laptop. It has flexible editing feature, makes good sounding recording, and inexpensive - about $800 new, much less u...
High Resolution CD's for 24/96 Format If you have a DVD player with 24/96 PCM output, you can play hi res DVD and feed its output to your DAC.
Best way of connecting bare wire to bare wire I would solder them together.
Newbie re Wireless Transfer The best and probably the cheapest way to do what you want is to use Apple iTunes on Windows XP and buy an Apple Airport Express with Air Tunes for the other room. iTunes can stream audio files from your PC to Airport Express via wireless. Airport...
Directional interconnect cables Musicnoise, I agree with most of what you said but the velocity of electrons (called drift velocity) required to move a few A of current inside a copper wire is indeed only a few mm per second.
SET 300B Integrated Amp: Tube Choice Don't overlook the output transformers. They contribute as much to the end result as the tubes you choose.

Lossless Downloads Istanbulu, I use iTunes on my Mac Mini. If you download 24/96 FLAC from Linn, you can use a free program called Max to convert FLAC to either AIFF or Apple Lossless and import them directly into iTunes. It works very well for me.BTW, if you have a... |
