"switching" noises from SS Class-AB amps
Vett93, In that case, good luck to your quest. And please let us know how it turns out.
"switching" noises from SS Class-AB amps
Vett93, if you don't know what you are doing, don't modify amp. I don't know much about those Bybee filters but you could throw the two sides of the output transistors out of balance and cause significant DC current to show up at the output termin...
Soldering - small wire to big connector
You need to clean the RCA connector with a 400 or 600 sand paper first. Than coat the small wire and the RCA connector with solder before soldering them together.
How important is the speaker/room interface?
It is not one of the most important, it is THE most important. A poorly matched room can make a $100,000 system sounds like $5000 mid-fi.
What is the ideal High Freq extension?
It depends on how old you are and how good your hearing is. When I was in my late teens, I could hear up to 18Khz. Now, 30 some years later, I could hear no more than maybe 12 or 13Khz and music sounded very different to me than when I was much yo...
Turntable Leveling Question VPI Scout
It depends on what arm you have. If you have the JMW 9 you must level the platter. JMW is an unipivoted arm which is self-leveled and requires a leveled platter in order to maintain the correct angular relationship with a record. On the other hand,...
Recommendation Weight on Top of Speaker
I don't know much about the Concertos. If your bookshelf speaker has relatively thin cabinet wall, you can cut two pieces of 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch plywood, about the same size as the side wall, place one piece on each side and clamp them down with ...
Longest continuous playing songs
Why don't you use an iPod or iTunes. You can make your own mix and play for hundreds of hour non stop.
question about the "analog sound"
How many vinyls have you tried. Not all vinyls are created equal. Some badly recored/mastered ones can sound thin, flat, and un-listenable.

What is a $500- $700 power cord for subwoofer
From the cost-and-benefit point of view, for $500 to $700, I would rather upgrade the sub itself than buying a power cord for the sub.
Help VPI SDS Issue
What output voltage did you set it to. If you set it too low, the motor may not have enough torque.
Why buy a DAC when you have a high end pre/pro?
You are right. If you had a high-end processor like the Theta Casablanca, there is absolutely no reason to buy a separate DAC.
File format compatible with iTunes and J.River
I am afraid WAV is the only format compatible with both iTunes and J. River.Just curious, why J. River? Why don't you just use iTunes on PC?
VPI SDS Newbie
Autodexr, SDS will work with both motors but the 300 rpm motor upgrade is a must. IMHO, the 600 rpm motor should be considered a defect and should have never been released in the first place.
