Lack of bass with SP-9 MK3 Have you talked to a representative at Audio research about this lack of bass issue? I think that also there is a modifier, Great Northern Sound( Steve Huntley) that specializes in tweaking AR gear. http://www.greatnorthernsound.com/
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier Joe, I'm just trying to enjoy the preamp, but am still experimenting with the output caps. I'm keeping a low profile on this tweak until I get the full measure of things. By the way, how are those new tubes working out in your preamp?
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier Mark, Why wait two weeks? Do they take that long to break in? Also, is this the same Czech Republic company KR Audio? I just looked at their website and I only see triode-type power tubes. I'm curious what your source is for these E88cc tubes you ...
good old tuners going obsolete Unclejeff, I'm sorry to see that you have become bored with this thread, seeing that it is starting to look like a "sports talk show radio"( by the way is enjoyable), but I am still very interested in knowing what the outcome of analog FM radio wi...
Bypass caps I also recommend the V-cap TFTF, but try a value that is 1/100th the value of the larger cap or smaller, i.e. if your main cap is 4.7uf, then use a .047uf or smaller. The TFTF .01uf is amazing, approaching the sound of a "straight wire".
Capacitors for BAT VK-60 If you're willing to spend a bit more on a cap, the V-cap OIMP(oil impregnated metallized polypropylene) cap has the liquid warmth you are seeking. They are also less expensive than the V-cap TFTF, especially if you need a larger value. Either of ...
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier Hi Joe, I look forward to hearing your impressions on all these different tubes.
Lack of bass with SP-9 MK3 I would compare your output impedance of the preamp to match with the input impedance of your amp. A simple adjustment of cap values in either might be just the ticket, assuming you are going to keep the amp.
good old tuners going obsolete Qdrone, I get your gist, but FM radio isn't exactly "free". Commercial radio stations give us the free music because of advertising. NPR( National Public Radio) is partially subsidized by the Gov't through our tax dollars( each year that subsidy b...
good old tuners going obsolete "That would make Unclejeff one of the two? He does seem to agree with Acoustat6?" Thanks for the explanation, KT_88. That makes sense to me now. Can you answer one more simple question for me? Why is the sky blue? I guess I'm one of a few old fa...
good old tuners going obsolete I'm still trying to figure out the philosophy of how one of two people with the same opinion is redundant; and furthermore, how is this related to the demise of FM radio? Am I living in the "Twilight Zone" ?
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier It's scary to get old so quickly. Time just flies by anymore.
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier Welcome "abroad", Rx8man? Do you live overseas? Just kidding. Yeah, I remember JoJo Gunne. It was about 1971. I was just graduating from high school and I heard this song on the radio with the lyrics, "Ride, ride, ride...". I said to my friend, "H...
good old tuners going obsolete Uh, Bob? What is your point?
