HiFI Fuses ?
I tried these fuses and they do make a difference, although I am not sure if it is an improvement. I actually gave up using them after a while...not because they don't work....but because I found they kept falling out when I moved around. (BTW, th...
bass traps..which wall first
My understanding is that the MEGA LENRD are bigger. Size counts! The MegaLENRD Bass Trap (Low-End Node Reduction Device) is extremely effective at smoothing out low frequency room nodes and is just a bigger version of the original best-selling bas...
New HD DVD Player - which isolation device to use?
Are you trying to improve the longevity of the device?No...I'm just trying to get the most performance out of it for audio and video. I am not sure if vibrational damping can help like it can with a TT or a filament in a tube. I mean if something...
Which "tweeks" are more important
I second all the above and more. Dedicated circuits and dedicated rooms. Ideally, Digital and Analog should not be in the same room....as contamination is always a possibility ;-)
bass traps..which wall first
what are your thoughts on accoustical solutions traps up front (the 4' tall foam ones) and Aurelen Lenrd bass traps in rear (2' tall) I'd be inclinded to go for the MEGA LENRD's (or equivalent size) if you plan only a total of 12 linear feet of c...

SACD and an audiophile question
Talking strictly two channel....the recording and mastering have a much bigger impact on what you hear than the actual format, CD, DVD-A or SACD.IMHO, the industry is struggling to find a compelling reason to drive people to another music format a...
12" 45 RPM records: What's the story?
Did anybody find a CD with pre-echo yet?
Speaker Tilt Back benefits?
What sounds better will largely depend on your room acoustics, listening position and the vertical dispersion pattern of the speaker. There is no "rule of thumb" for this....just experiment. If a slight tilt makes a significant difference then thi...
12" 45 RPM records: What's the story?
Sorry Eldartford but if we want to form a company then we should have thought of this more than ten years ago and filed a patent.A cursory investigation indicates we might have to negotiate a patent license or find a workaround.... French Telecom ...
12" 45 RPM records: What's the story?
This thread just shows how interesting Audiogon can be. We went from 45 RPM to pre-echo somehow...but it meant that I learnt something new. Thx everyone. Most of you may not be aware of this; recording engineers will often make a dub of their finis...
12" 45 RPM records: What's the story?
Nsgarch, First of all, if there was any print through between bands on the master tape, that's easily eliminated when transferring the album to CD, just insert new silences between bands. Good point I hadn't thought of that...but hang on...if they...
12" 45 RPM records: What's the story?
Can you cite a CD with pre-echo so that I (we) can check this out? I second Eldartford's question. Can anyone name a single CD with a pre-echo?I own a large number of CD's and haven't come across one with a pre-echo...yet. My experience tends to ...
Acoustical Solutions or Auralex LENRD bass traps
Fishboat,ROFLMAO...mongolian mare indeed!Yeah, I agree Ethan Winer is doing a great educational service. Others seem mostly content to specifically push their products whilst Ethan does a lot more than just plug his own products. He seems on a cru...
CD Buying Guide???
I have never found a reliable guide. The best thing is to follow recording and mastering engineers. When you find someone who is good or you like (such as Doug Sax, Chuck Ainlay, Al Schmitt, Jack Renner, Michael Bishop, etc.) Then look them up on ...
