Subwoofer suggestion to Integrate w/ Meyer HD-1's
Good Choice.
Eggleston Andra 2 owners
I think Bob Ludwig uses these - check what he uses to drive them.
Two sources, one sub - can I use Y-cable
No. The output impedance of the pre-out may quite low and will drop the active signal level going to the sub.Y's in audio are a nightmare. You can only use them to split signals from one source to two high impedance inputs. If you want to connect o...
Do you ...Center Channel?
Any DSP device to accomplish the same or more would require additional A/D/A conversions which would be redundant and compromising. I am not aware of any current consumer HT multi-channel source that is not digital (DVD, SACD).It begs the questio...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
The Dunlavy V's. It is my 10 th year and I see no need to replace them. Agreed! That is the mark of a great speaker. No more Merry-Go-Round for you. No need to own the latest styles or hyped models....no need to keep up with the Jones' ...it will...
Why do headphones sound so good...
I would add excellent headphones have very little phase shift, as their single diaphragm moves nearly/almost as one solid piston through the range of 200Hz to >8kHz In that same range, most all speakers have hundreds of degrees of phase shift ...
Do you ...Center Channel?
Baam23f,Huh? That is an analog device...forget it.You need a DSP....this will allow you to precisely configure what you send to each speaker, including how you roll off each individual speaker and how you treat center information, subwoofer inform...
Leave an amp "on" permanetly
Not sure I agree with "on" permanently. Most hi end hi-fi stuff will be tubes or SS amps that run mainly in Class A operationn.....these naturally run very hot and waste huge amounts of energy and besides, tubes have a limited life span...why woul...
monitors/speakers?
Monitors are used in the music industry both in live events and also in studios (recording/mixing/mastering). In general, this equipment must handle large dynamic range with a high degree of fidelity (more stringent requirements than for home use)...
Sonus Faber , Should the Tweeter be in or out ?
The offset is usually for edge diffraction effects of the baffle. Basically a centered tweeter will see edge diffraction at the same time from each side...this can cause a drop in energy at a specific set of frequencies, as the diffrated energy fl...
measuring output impedance
Forget it. Active components such as Op amps cannot be measured with a multimeter - in the worst case you may damage something with your 9 volt multimeter battery. (The impedance is a function of the feedback in the amplifier stage)
Why do headphones sound so good...
Headphones move so little air that they usually outperform most consumer speakers in terms of distortion. They also help cut out or reduce ambient noise. For critical listening or adjustments, headphones are very useful....but the sound is awful!U...

Nah - you got it all wrong. The trick is to float your entire sound system. (The water absorbs all nasty vibs)See this StudioAnyone recognize the speakers?
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Drubin,Perhaps this is how you get off the Merry-Go-Round?Getting off the Merry-Go-Round OneGetting off the Merry-Go-Round TwoAnyone care to count the number of woofers? The bluetooth keyboard and trackball are to control everything from the liste...
Subwoofer suggestion to Integrate w/ Meyer HD-1's
Thanks! Do you use your ears to adjust the EQ or do you use some sort of analyzer? Both.I use a plot of pure test tones witha Ratshack meter to get "reasonably" flat (+/- 5 db in room) and then I use music to fine tune overall bass. Spanish Harle...
