How to clean pots and switches properly?
Once things warm up, the volume control seems to operate fine. This does not sound like a pot. I would suspect power supply rail caps more than pots in this instance.
Soundstage wide and deep but not at all tall. . .
Don't sit with your back to a wall - i.e. head within two feet - it will collapse the soundstage and completely mess up the bass. It is like listening in a cave or tunnel - sur eit may sound vague and wide but imagine using the left over cardboard...
Mogami balanced cables .... or another brand?
Mogami are nice quality. I use Mogami and Yorkville and Mogami are better built but roughly twice the price.
Speakers secured with bungee cord

Lack of depth problem
Vet,Your JMLabs tend to have a dip in the upper midrange off axis - if you trust these measurements - so this region will be particularly weak from your seated position: well back where you likely get quite a lot of reflected energy of which a lo...

Stuart - then horns are a natural choice with bass bins being the most efficient and with corner Klipsch type horns getting the very loudest possible for modest power. The issue will be suitable placement of corner horns and size - the Klipsch RF-...
Lack of depth problem
The speakers are about 9' apart center-to-center, and 2 3/4' to the side walls (from center of each speaker). Can you move each speaker 1 foot in and place them 7 feet apart. It will not throw quite as wide soundstage but it will give you more de...
