NAD C 275 Bee Great value. Really good amp for the price. I have one for surround speaker duty. Works great. It is neutral and won’t be musical like McIntosh.
If You Like Funk: Check Out Vulfpeck @frogman I have so many of Maceo’s albums - all with great musicians.i find Jamal Thomas particularly tasty with Jerry Preston of course it helps to have Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Wesley...The groove is sublime and the drummer is deep in the pocket w...
Digital Interface @jim204 So so we agree! The Schiit Eiitr is just a USB bridge to coax - so it probably will improve the PS Audio Direct Stream too. DACs mostly all need a band aid to actually work properly but there is no reason they can’t work properly without /...
Pre amps cost vs. value ... what I discovered last month. @brianlucey Benchmark is as you describe. I use tubes also to warm things up. Thanks for the info on Solaris. I agree that there a lot of great DACs out there nowadays. It often comes down to system synergy or taste.
Best Rocking Speakers 15K and Under +1 ATC - active ATC work well with the C2600. The tube pre adds some warmth but without losing detail. If you like loud with effortless ease (no boominess or dustortion) then ATC are among the best.
Pre amps cost vs. value ... what I discovered last month. @astewart8944 +1 on sample rate or high resolution. With the right DAC there is no audible benefit to higher sample rates. Unfortunately, most DACs are rather non-linear and a higher sample rate actually helps “randomize” noise from these poorly c...
Pre amps cost vs. value ... what I discovered last month. Bob Katz compares the Cranesong Avocet to Benchmark DACs in his review! So, what does the Avocet sound like? For digital (PCM) sources, its DAC sounds indistinguishable from the Benchmark, one of the best DACs I’ve heard regardless of price....I us...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic and yet you continue spewing your nonsense hereSince this entire thread is all a bunch of nonsense claims about TC paste, more nonsense really doesn’t add or subtract anything (except maybe you’re angry because it subtracts from your sales and pr...
Digital Interface @jim204 It is self evident that a DAC designed for high fidelity should reject jitter. After all, jitter is nothing new and if a $150 Schiit Eitr can fix things then it is self evident that the manufacturer of the DAC could improve their design su...
Digital Interface It depends on your DAC. A properly designed DAC with excellent jitter rejection won’t benefit. Unfortunately most DACs aren’t properly designed. I would recommend a Schiit Eiitr as it is cheaper than Singxer and does the job!
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic For those who haven’t taken the leap ... you should ASAP.Salesmen on commission can be rather pushy to the point of being really obnoxious, especially when the profit margins are huge.
Audio as a weapon Stealth applications: ATC built noise cancelling speakers for the British Navy at least 30 years ago. The device could reduce a ship ‘s engine external noise from the funnel significantly by 20db but required 135 dB at 30Hz. They continue on other...
Mcintosh 452 vs Pass Labs XA 30.5 The Pass is a great power amp but a bit underpowered. So Mcintosh will probably be quite an improvement. Consider a tube preamp. Your speakers suggest you are looking for something musical. Mcintosh are not the last word in resolution but very mus...
Clean Power from Solar Power I suggest some audiophile polarizing filters to clean up the noisy sun light. You simply wear them while listening - the best are the “RayBand” with polarized lenses. ;-)More seriously, if you have in spec power and good components then they shoul...
Fundamentalist Fervor Nothing fundamentalist about a skeptic. Skeptics simply challenge ridiculous claims that make no sense at all. When unscrupulous sellers charge 100x markups for miraculous tweaks that cannot possibly make a difference then warnings from skeptics a... |
