ATC SCM 11 Vs SCM 19...Need immediate suggestion
If there is some good/significant improvement that can expected after the 19 breaks in then I would consider it and wait to burn it in....and if they still retain this kind of character even after burn in then they are not for me...I would have t...
How loud do you like to play your music?
With the monitor/sub system I now have, I stay in the mid 80's to low 90's (continuous) range, which is also determined by the quality of the recording. This system simply lacks the impact the bigger system had & is not as much fun to listen ...
How loud do you like to play your music?
With rock and roll the bands seem to play it at one level only which is very loud and purposefully distorted. Yeah - it is all noise today...no Stairway to Heaven or Bohemian Rhapsody anymore...since Oasis and U2 proved that hyper-compression sell...
Distorted sound on speakers
Assuming the tweeter is fried, would it be an easy fix?Assuming this is the issue and you can find an exact replacement then it may cost no more than $50 depending on the speaker. You may also want to check the woofer though - this kind of sound c...
Forward Monitor with Detail Speed and liquid Highs
ATC SCM 19 may work for you. Front row presentation sealed box with little bass extension compared to most other monitors (which will be ported). Critically damped design. Definitely NOT laid back. Good impulse response - particularly good on perc...
Distorted sound on speakers
It does sound like you fried a tweeter - this is common. Either your amp clipped and you damaged it or you speakers are not powerful enough to handle the listening levels you like.
How loud do you like to play your music?
A lot depends on the recording quality but I generally listen like you around 90 db average most of the time, however, I will crank it from time to time to around 95 - 100 db SPL.Without you defining a reference track it is hard to say.Examples of...

Moving from CD Player to MAC Book Pro Music Server
Even if the enclosure itself failed, the SATA drives would survive with all the data. Agreed...but you would need to repair the Drobo...I figured my approach be very inefficient but by having a RAID 1 with two mirrored drives then means I have a ...

I need help with my Equipment addiction
If i honestly asked myself which i prefer more, to listen to music or tweak my system, i would have to sadly answer the latter. It's surely a guy thing. If you tweak your system too much you'll go blind.
Transfer of Library to a back-up External HD
Did you format the new disc first using Applications=>Utilities=> Disk Utility
Moving from CD Player to MAC Book Pro Music Server
It's not the cheapest solution, but I have a Drobo for back up and it let's me sleep at night. After having many a back-up external drive fail, I settled on the Drobo, and it blows away the RAID array it replaced as far as ease of use. I looked a...
Why so few high end line arrays?
Darkmoebius,For the sake of brevity I did not go into as much detail. Yes it is true that a line array of woofers operating below 300 Hz is generally no problem due to the wavelengths of low frequencies. As you go up in frequency the problems star...
Why so few high end line arrays?
They work great at concerts and for sports stadiums....definitely a mistake for home audio, IMHO.You are getting serious comb filtering from listening close up to multiple drivers with the same bandwidth.
