Any Rotel love around here? Looking to power my Sonus Faber Olympica 3 Rotel are excellent - not a dynamic punchy sound but smooth. NAD make a nice option and you will like the look and similar sound but a bit more dynamic:NAD C275BEE with C165BEE is good value. The power amp is a tank with massive power supply. I wou...
Random thoughts from a sort of, kind of audiophile Agreed Broadstone, some things make an obvious difference and others make hardly any difference at all. Careful what you say about cables and interconnects or raised cables - there are many here who can hear what should be 10 impossible things eve...
Now it's subs +1 JL is good. Be wary of anything else - the vast majority of subwoofers are not suitable for music at all. It is all entirely about the quality of the woofer in the sub (JL make excellent woofers with long linear excursions) and EQ is just icing...
Volume Increase of decrease as system improves Distortion is interpreted as loudness so less distortion means louder will still sound good. You need a good recording without distortion as well as a large dynamic range to want to crank it and still find it engaging and enjoyable.
Listen...chair Best not to have a headrest as that will screw up the sound reaching your ears - apart from that whatever you find comfortable!!!!
Why pay so much for super high end? Douglas,Darwinian theory is not poor science. It is actually very good observation and a theory formulated long before we had an understanding of DNA. However, with an understanding of DNA and viruses I think we now know today that Darwinian theor...
Evolution Acoustics MM2/MM3 I don't see your virtual system - very hard to comment without any idea of your setup. Sounds like your Rockports are not working for your needs if you desire adjusting woofer and tweeter.
RIP Sharon Jones RIP - love everything she did. Lucky to have seen her live too a few years ago. Love Daptone.

In wall vs regular speakers? +1 elevickCheck out PSB Custom Sound - these are fully enclosed in-walls and will compete with mid level audiophile setups and will look architecturally great!I agree that non enclosed in-walls are not the best way to go.
Blu Ray Vs Sky/ Streaming For streaming Netflix 4K HD is excellent over cable or optical lines. You need consistently good download speed - minimum is 30 Mbps. For viewing there is nothing that compares to UHD 4K Blu-ray with a proper player and a 4K UHD TV. As far as TV g...
Interconnects RCA cables can only ever equal or be second best to XLR. RCA connectors were developed as a low cost solution for phonographs which is why they are often still called phono jacks. They are perfectly adequate if you simply need to connect a TT, how...
Class D Technology Great discussion and lots of valid points. I agree with those who feel Class D is not ready for prime time - great for PA and subwoofers but perhaps a few more years are needed for them to become viable to the majority of critical audiophile liste...

Where is the significant point of diminishing returns on hi-end turntable? @railiruegas I agree with you entirely about speakers being the key. I was just acknowledging that mmporsche has gone down a particular path that likely precludes a very costly switching of speakers. For sure the Wilson Alexandria would be in anot... |
