In wall vs regular speakers?
+1 elevickCheck out PSB Custom Sound - these are fully enclosed in-walls and will compete with mid level audiophile setups and will look architecturally great!I agree that non enclosed in-walls are not the best way to go.
Blu Ray Vs Sky/ Streaming
For streaming Netflix 4K HD is excellent over cable or optical lines. You need consistently good download speed - minimum is 30 Mbps. For viewing there is nothing that compares to UHD 4K Blu-ray with a proper player and a 4K UHD TV. As far as TV g...
Interconnects
RCA cables can only ever equal or be second best to XLR. RCA connectors were developed as a low cost solution for phonographs which is why they are often still called phono jacks. They are perfectly adequate if you simply need to connect a TT, how...
Class D Technology
Great discussion and lots of valid points. I agree with those who feel Class D is not ready for prime time - great for PA and subwoofers but perhaps a few more years are needed for them to become viable to the majority of critical audiophile liste...

Where is the significant point of diminishing returns on hi-end turntable?
@railiruegas I agree with you entirely about speakers being the key. I was just acknowledging that mmporsche has gone down a particular path that likely precludes a very costly switching of speakers. For sure the Wilson Alexandria would be in anot...
Why so underwhelmed by Revel F208 audition???
You may be like me. I prefer intrinsically damped speaker drivers. Paper pulp and doped fabric - no metal or ceramics for me.the problem with a rigid driver is that it MUST necessarily have internal vibrations (hit a wine glass with a spoon or thi...
Do equipment stands have an impact on electronics?
Vibrations affect anything that is microphonic or any surface that can vibrate and create sound (rattle being obvious but it can be moe subtle than that). Examples are a piano or guitar that will vibrate sympathetically and drum sets are very obvi...
Dylan wins Nobel Prize in Literature
I would hazard that Bob Dylan doesn’t like honours.Like Feynman and all true driven creative intellectuals - they don’t do it for a reward or medal. The reward is the journey of discovery and a deeper understanding. A medal or award is nothing com...
Samsung buys Harman for $8B
With spontaneously combusting cell phones and exploding washing machines, could this be a way to get some positive momentum for investors?
What's your favorite lyric from a song?

Best car audio, Burmester? highly disapointed
Don't know about bespoke systems but Harmon Kardon is my favorite from the factory - the one in my Mercedes big SUV is the best car audio I have had (including a bespoke Clarion setup). Mark Levinson factory installs in Lexus would be a close seco...
JL F112 or F113
They are both sealed so quite similar in response. The larger cone will have more linear power. Just be aware that room response increases at lower frequencies so a sub that has a flat response to 20Hz anechoic will need calibration in almost ever...
Where is the significant point of diminishing returns on hi-end turntable?
Garrettc,He already has the spruce cone and paper whizzer Voxativ 9.87 which can be driven by a mere 2watts - so I suspect Alexandrias as good as they may be are not on the cards.
Hated my Pro-Ject Debut III looking for another budget option. Kind of thinking Thorens
Maybe you are like me. I prefer old style late 70’s TT - the ones with the S shaped arm and very heavy plinth and direct drive motor. I never liked the move to light weight TT and lightweight arms but of course Linn and Rega have done so well it m...
