Do you leave your components on 24/7?
Tinsorosk - If Taxis are left running it's because the driver wants to stay warm. And I don't think any cab hit 1 million miles, it is certainly not routine. (Wiki says one of the 20-year old Checkers got almost 1 million miles, probably with a few...
Do you leave your components on 24/7?
I think people give way to much credence to what the manufacturers say, specifically to reliability and turning the amp off or leaving it on. I'd bet most have no hard data to prove either way, it costs a lot of money to do those types of studies ...
Austin TX — February, 2009
Audio_builder - It's the *Live* Music Capitol of the World. There's a big group all right, we just never seem to be in the same place at the same time.I went over to someone's home a couple of weekends ago that I know from another (speaker-specific...
How far apart do you position your speakers ?
I did the plane of the speaker to the ear, but I believe the 83% mentioned in this thread was from ear to speaker. The way I did it worked well for me. I have my rack on the side wall, so moving speakers farther apart would have meant closer to the...
How far apart do you position your speakers ?
Here's my formula, try it if you get curious or bored:Speakers 1/3 into the roomChair against the back wall (make sure the wall behind you is not hard/bare)Speakers spread 83% of the distance from your ear to the plane of the speakers directly in ...
What cd player to purchase for less than $1000?
I recently bought the Rega Apollo and have been happy with it. At the time it was $850 with a trade in (any cd player, working or not). List is $1,000.I bumped it against an Arcam 8SE, Primare CD21 and Music Hall 25.2 and liked the Apollo.
Do you leave your components on 24/7?
"all S.S. components must remain "fully charged" to offer best operation. I could hear difference after the 20th day."I cannot for the life of me imagine what in those boxes would need 20 days to "charge"...20 minutes? Sure20 hours? OK, I'll play ...
Zu Omen or Tekton Lore
Gpowered - I couldn't agree more when you mention "some of yo out there that do not take this product seriously because of the lower price tag." When I saw the ad for the Katz Meow I really didn't think there was any way it would compete with the ...
Zu Omen or Tekton Lore
Everything you guys (Zman, Gpowered) are saying about the Lore I am saying about the Omen. I'm driving them with a DIY 2A3 SE amp and they are absolutely fantastic. It took me a while to get them set up properly, specifically playing with speaker ...
Lucinda Williams live
I bought her new CD last night. The delux has the +12 kitchen songs that Hotmail mentions. Good stuff on the studio and the kitchen stuff is cool as well.
American made cartridge anyone?
Zu sells Zu-branded cartridges, who actually makes them I don't know.
Static and popping sound from my new apollo
Mine doesn't do that, never did. I'd head to the dealer tomorrow and ask for another box

If the SF is like the Omen, the manual says as long as you can slide a standard CD case between the speaker and the floor you're fine. If you're using the carpet spikes I believe the gap will be greater than 1 case, but the way I interpret the ins...

"Incidentally, to save me reading 11 pages of this (which I have done previously thanks) how do you get the gap to just above the width of a cd?"You do mean the width of a standard CD case, right?
How far apart do you position your speakers ?
Wolf - Speakers will play music and can be enjoyed no matter how you set them up. If you pay attention to the details, they play much better.
