Perreaux 350P
Tom: I agree. Some early Perreaux models were thin almost to the point of being anemic sounding. They re-designed the power supply / manipulated internal impedances and things really warmed up a lot. After that, it would appear that their amps wen...

Hi-Fi: Thanks for the clarification, but i'm almost sorry i asked. You should have pointed out your affiliation before having to be asked. Sean>
Low watt system for rock,electronica?
Marakanetz: That one had me laughing out loud : ) Ray: I guess it would depend on how loud and clean you want it and what you consider "loud" and "low power". My experience would tell me "NO", but i may have very different ideas as to what constit...
Perreaux 350P
I looked on the HiFi Farm website and saw Perreaux products listed, but only a headphone amp and phono amp. There were no preamps or power amps listed. As such, this is a kinda-sorta "iffy" issue. HiFi: For sake of clarity, are you saying that Per...
why do i lose center image when i use xlr cables?
All good suggestions above. It is possible for one "balanced" component to not be wired the same as another component. That is, they use different pin configurations for the wiring inside each component. The plugs will plug in, but hot, neutral an...
Low watt system for rock,electronica?
David: You're amp and Psychic's amp have a lot in common. Both are Class A, but Francisco's amp is rated at 50 wpc @ 8 ohms. His amp came out of the factory where Nelson used to operate out of before opening Pass Labs. In effect, you guys are on t...
EAD lacks power compared to Sherbourn
If the EAD actually was .5 volt input sensitivity, that would make it very sensitive to minor volume adjustments and you would have blown it or your speakers up by now driving it as hard as you are at -20 on a TG II. You really need to contact EAD...
Image and Power
Just random thoughts here...Many tubes amps sound "warmer" due to shifts in tonal balance. Due to various output impedances and speaker input impedances, this can change from system to system and even at various drive levels. As one might surmise,...
Multiple copies of the same album on vinyl?
Wow Elizabeth!!! 7000 in 11 months!?!?! I hope you've got a sturdy record cleaning machine : ) Sean>
recommend a good computer and digital camera?
While i'm not much of a computer whiz, i know more than a few of my friends do. Having said that, they had me set-up a couple of differnt Dell laptop's for them. The first one was completely "whacked" when we took it out of the box. The operating ...
Good inexpensive phono pre-amp for Technic 1200s?
Sometimes you can find some very good phono stages for next to nothing if you look around. I was able to pick up a Klyne for well under what you want to spend. Something that is a little more common and offers at least a little bit of versatility ...
What happened to PIP?
Slappy: Haven't been shopping for TV's lately, but my 2.5 year old Mitsu big screen is capable of displaying 3 pictures simultaneously. I'm sure that there are units out there that offer the feature that you're looking for, it's just a matter of f...
Have A Great Summer Everyone
Glen: : )This "we'll see you in a bit" ( no goodbye's allowed here ) thread in honour of Ed has turned out to be educational. I never knew that Frisco was "foggy" in the summer. I guess we can learn something on ANY thread to be found on Agon : ) ...
Have A Great Summer Everyone
Buscis: I hope that your relocation is smooth and uneventful. I can't imagine what it is like to pick up and move after being in one place for so long, let alone to the other side of the country. Besides all of the work involved, there's a lot of ...
EAD lacks power compared to Sherbourn
Wow. If the spec's that Distortion provided are accurate, that would explain the problem. You need over twice as much drive from the Pre / Pro into the EAD to even come close to achieving the same output levels with half the drive going into the S...
