Looking for additional cable ideas...
For the record, i found your comments right on the money regarding the "lean" sound of Nordost. I also agree that it is very focused sounding from about 6-800 Hz and up. It is that inherit lack of "warmth" or "body" that kills it in my book. Then ...
Lowther Voigt Pipes are up and running
Thanks for the update Clueless. I was unaware of the differences in makes / models that Lowther offers. Sean>
Buying a used Oracle Delphi Mk_ ?
Motorpsychos, i was wondering about the mounting situation on these tables as i too had been curious about them. Will they easily accept an ET II or a Souther / Clearaudio ? Maybe you or Jeff can chime in on this one. Sean>
Has anybody heard the Shanling CD player?
Only thing i've seen about it were listening results that people posted from the last Audio show in NY. Opinions were a mixed bag with some people loving it while others completely dismissed the sonics. Obviously, the less than stellar acoustics, ...
Lowther Voigt Pipes are up and running
When i first saw the subject line last night, i new it was you that had posted it : )Good idea about the "wings". I've used similar approaches to extend baffles on smaller stand mounted monitors before, but these usually extended below the cabinet...
Novice attempting to bi-amp. Help
I would think that shunting the input should negate all but the highest levels of crosstalk. After all, the input is where the "leakage" would have the most chance to be picked up and amplified as that is where the circuitry would offer the most g...
Qualitative test of Auric Illuminator
Greg, here's a link to my original post or one can simply do a search on Auric Illuminator in the Agon archives. I have never bothered to try using a marker any time after the "testing" performed here. Hopefully, refreshing your memory with this t...
OMG I'm gonna kill VideoLogic...
Thanks for sharing this info with us. I've had similar experiences with various cables, especially power cords. Nothing like taking a mass produced product that costs $1 a foot ( or less ) wholesale and selling it for an unmercifully high mark-up....
Novice attempting to bi-amp. Help
Bear, good idea about the dummy load and listening for "bleed through". Simple and quite effective. Do you think that removing the interconnect from the input of the "dead" channel and using something along the lines of a Cardas cap be of any furt...
Qualitative test of Auric Illuminator
I agree with your comments about AI and have performed similar testing with a slight difference. In every test, AI always produced cleaner treble response ( very noticeable on cymbals as you mentioned ) with an overall more "liquid", "focused" and...
Are you spending your time at the computer instead
I have to admit that my listening time has definitely dropped over the last year or two. Much of this is directly attributable to computer time while some of it is just due to being busier over all. Thanks for reminding me about this though, as i ...
Novice attempting to bi-amp. Help
Vertical bi-amplification will work "better" if you have speakers that are a benign load on the higher frequencies and you have an abundance of power in both channels. Since the highs are relatively "coasting" in terms of power draw, the "excess" ...
is there really a need for two subs?
For sake of clarity and so that some of you may better understand where i'm coming from, i have two subs in my HT system, two subs in my main 2 ch system and two subs in my bedroom system. The two systems that do not have subs consist of large mod...
Novice attempting to bi-amp. Help
G13 hit it on the head. I too would recommend horizontal bi-amping for this specific situation. Sean>

I am not directly familiar with your amp or pre. Are the tubes out in the open i.e. exposed to the airwaves or placed within a some type of a shield like a cage, etc ??? If they are out in the open, try shielding them as best possible and see if t...
