Is it possible for something to be the best?
There is always a best in every category. If you don't believe me, simply as a manufacturer of any product and they'll surely be able to tell you what is best and why : ) Sean>
Fatigue Subjective???
Fatigue has a lot to do with the recording itself. I've been able to listen hours of music at high volume and never have a problem. Slip in a specific disc and i've got a headache after about 10 - 15 minutes.I also think that our AC system affects...
SIlver Cable Experiences?
Silver cabling is no different than any other "component" in a system. Some work, some don't and some are up to personal tastes. I've found that some silver cables sound far more "edgy" than others, even after running them on my cable burner for e...
BNC Digital cable of 1m or use 1,5m for better ..
Jfrech, i don't think that you get less digital reflections with a longer length, you just have more line loss to "absorb" them on the return trip back to the transport. This is a two way street though, as a longer cable also has more loss making ...
Best Setup Disc?
Since Scott said it all, i'll leave it at that : ) Sean>
Low Voltage on Circuit
good luck and keep us posted. I'm sure that there are others in your situation. Some of them might not even know it : ) Sean>
Amplifier Upgrade advice ?
Pick up a Sunfire Cinema Grand via A-gon and then have Hillig modify it. Upgrading the power supply by adding increased capacitance and tinkering with how the output section feeds the various binding posts shouldn't cost much at all and would make...
Low Voltage on Circuit
I looked at the power consumption of the components in my tube based system. The transport's rated consumption: 24 wattsThe two tube dac's rated consumption: 24 wattsThe all tube preamp's rated consumption: 26 wattsThe 30 wpc tube power amp's rate...
Two channel home theater set up
Bomarc, we recently changed the tweeters in one of my buddy's Polk 10's and the difference was quite staggering. The sound was far more open, detailed and spacious. He was so overwhelmed and "giddy" by the increase in performance that it made me l...
Need more power
If your speakers really are 88 dB's and you've got a decent sized room, you better start looking for something that will do at least 150 - 200 tube watts or 200 - 250 SS watts rms per channel @ 8 ohms. That is, if you want to be able to play reaso...
Two channel home theater set up
I know it doesn't fit your description as they are bigger than a "two way monitor", but try looking for something like a pair of old Polk 10's. These can typically be had for well under $300 in excellent shape. While they are not super efficient, ...
Looking for additional cable ideas...
Sorry bout that. Forgot that you were running a tube amp. I don't see the Goertz cables creating a problem for you. As to "unstable designs", you would have to put Spectral, Pass Labs, etc.. into that category as Goertz WILL "play" with these amps...
Low Voltage on Circuit
Buckingham, try measuring other outlets throughout the house. If they are all low, chances are that you will have to get the electric company in on this one. They may have a pole transformer that is going bad. It might be failing with the heavy lo...
Best Female Rock Group
Ross & Derrick, you guys crack me up !!!! : )My first thoughts were Chrissie & the Pretenders. As to being a "female rock group", you could change the entire cast of male members and nobody would notice. So long as Chrissie was still there...
A/B test of interconnects - Will this work???
Tieing the two cables together in parallel will alter the total impedance that the source sees regardless of which cable is selected to listen to.Running the two cables into different inputs may change things slightly. Since i am a confirmed belie...
