What interconnects with SACD 1000 ?
Jeffrt: If you haven't already done so, please try reading ALL of IA's posts regarding the SACD 1000. For a good start, you might want to start here. I have no problems with dissenting opinions so long as they are actually legit and have some form...
preamp vs. no-preamp
Passive's are not "preamps". A "passive" is simply a "line level attenuator" that may also function as a "line level switchbox" if it has multiple inputs. While one could argue that it is a technically a "pre-amplifier" because it is before the am...
monster m1000 d?
Tweak: Thanks for clarifying that and pointing out that one can get the same for less. That's never a bad thing to know : )I have one of these that i bought from Audio Advisor when they were on sale and i had some type of a discount coupon. I thin...
Cueing it up...
I never let my stylus touch the record. This keeps vinyl in pristine shape and you never have to re-tip the cartridge. This also explains why i hear so much more "air" than i do with a digital rig : ) Sean>
power cords- problems using too many cords ?
I agree with Mejames. While i don't know the design of the cords that you are using, it is quite possible that the aftermarket cords have filtered out some of the "sludge" that was finding its' way through the power supply and then into your music...
Need sound pro advice for Adcom gold series system
Not having worked with all of the various components at one time, the only thing that i would add is that you really should check into "specialty" power cords. I know that the GCD-750 responds very well to this type of "tweak". Quite honestly, i w...
Anyone have modem problems with this site?
I had chronic problems with my ATT cable / modem system when i first had it hooked up, but it seems to be running a lot better now. I too used to have to re-boot to get things cleared up or go into the ATT settings on my puter to do a self diagnos...

To Power Condition or not?
The older Tice Power Blocks / Titan's are NOT "normal" power line conditioners. Each unit houses a single 43 pound 1875 watt isolation transformer. For best results though, one should not be pulling more than about 1000 - 1200 watts out of each tr...
Do you leave your SS amp on all the time?
John: My guess is that the amps that you speak of were were probably shoved into an enclosed rack, not allowing proper heat dissipation. These amps require open sides and at least 12" of space above them. Otherwise, you can expect them to cook the...
To Power Condition or not?
I can't believe that a Tice Power Block / Titan combo could feed all of those amps under load and NOT cause some type of voltage drop / signal decay. My suggestion is to get a couple of dedicated lines just for the amps and have the Titan converte...
Do you leave your SS amp on all the time?
Jmcgrogan: If you've never had your Threshold powered up for at least 3 days consecutive, you've never heard what it can do. Honest. High bias designs are the most sensitive to thermal cycling / sonics. The lower the bias on the amp, the less diff...
Does It Make Sense to Purchase Dunlavy Speakers
Pdclark: While your story doesn't really have the type of ending that i'm sure that you were looking for, it's good to know that some companies still take care of their customers and stand behind the products that they sell. Sean>
Huff speakers
I've listened to some of his "box" speakers under less than ideal conditions. John Huff did a demo for us at a Chicago Audio Society meeting. I was REALLY hoping that he was going to bring his modified German Physik's DDD's but i was out of luck. ...
Nick Cave fans?
I caught Nick in concert about 15 years ago. It was a good show, but he said that he was tired of the USA and wanted to get back home. Guess he's still singing that same song 15 years later : )One of my buddies just saw him play here recently. He ...
