grainy sounding high end system
I know of some others that have commented on the upper mids / lower treble sounding "ragged" on the original SC-IV's. Other than that, it sounds like speaker placement is not up to par and you might want to look into the cables that you are using....
Why are you here? ...music or equipment
Clueless: Are you doubly "clueless" ??? : )Personally, i love to tweak, experiment, check out new and different things and crank some good tunes while doing all of the above. As such, i'd like to think that my tweaking lets me hear more of the mus...
HELP Electrocompaniet stole Christmas
As a side note here, for as much as i have "bad-mouthed" Bryston amps, i have to state that their warranty and customer service under ANY circumstances are quite excellent. Too bad other companies can't / won't / don't follow their lead. Sean>
KaBOOM And a room full of Smoke Help??
Sorry to hear of the problems. I can understand where your husband could run into problems as surround sound with a full compliment of source components ( TV, VCR, DVD, Satellite / Cable box, Tuner, tape deck, etc...) with multiple channels of amp...
are there 2-ways that go down flat to around 40?
I agree with Paul. Most small two ways are vented. They do this in order to obtain better measurable results at the expense of sonics. The problem with this is that bass distortion goes WAY up once you get below woofer resonance. The fall-off rate...
What exactly is the ICE module in digital amps?
Bob: How "tiny" are these things and how much power were they doing ? Sean>
New product arrival and set up procedure
Jond: Thanks for the kind words. As mentioned, i thought about posting this info after reading another thread. Someone mentioned that a component was delivered and they threw it into the system right away. To top it off, this unit was tube based. ...
HELP Electrocompaniet stole Christmas
From what i can see SO FAR:Ernie made clear to the individual that was going to do the work that the unit was purchased second-hand and did have a serial number. From that point on, it was up to the individual doing the labor to do their homework ...
what tonearm for sota/shelter 501 ?
I'm not directly familiar with the Shelter cartridge, but i'm assuming that it would work better with a medium mass arm than that of a low mass design. As such, your AQ arm was probably not a bad match. Twl can probably be of far greater help that...
Do you own Dunlavy SC-IV's AND a yardstick ???
Yeah, my head was in the clouds for some reason. I was using the wrong conversion ratio when i did all of those equations. Good thing i didn't start sawing wood based upon my "dazed" calculations : )Having said that, 37" seems a tad low to me for ...
Isolation Passive/Active???
Try taking a look at these racks. They look to be very well engineered although i don't know about the actual shelves / shelving material being used. I think that you could do better in that respect.... Sean>Grand Prix Audio
Do you own Dunlavy SC-IV's AND a yardstick ???
Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses. I'm not so much worried about the tweeter height ( although this is quite important in a focused array ), but the distance that the drivers are spaced apart. I'm trying to "reverse engineer" some of Dunlavy...
Klipsch love them or hate them.
I think that the "classic" series were their best products and even these need a lot of help in stock form. The cabinets resonate like mad, the cabinets are not very well sealed, the horns ring like crazy, the drivers suffer from severe diffractio...
Anyone familiar with Audio Refinement?
From what i hear, they will be releasing a 150 wpc integrated sometime in the next few months. Might offer good bang for the buck and pretty reasonable power to boot. Sean>
Acurus A200X3
I briefly had an A200X3. Before buying it, i did a bit of research. It seemed like a pretty decent amp and Acurus had just got done beefing up the power supply while altering the tonal balance of the amp just a bit. Acurus told me that the top end...
