An EXPERIMENT for those who have never heard differences in cables
If you bundle that many individually insulated thin wires together, you're working with a litz design, there's a lot you can try with magnet wires. The most notable manufacturer that uses litz is Cardas, but their stranding is much finer and has t...
Need an inexpensive phono stage
If you can save up to around $500, the Jasmine LP2.5DU phono stage is one of audio's great bargain. It easily competes with a couple of $4000 phono stages I've had and compared favorably to a Mark Levinson phono stage in the Dagogo review. This th...
Mint LP Best Protractor
I have the Mint LP and GeoDisc. I set up all three of my turntables with the GeoDisc, one was getting more occasional inner groove distortion so I ordered the Mint LP and problem solved.
Does anyone have experience with seller Kron on cartridges?
Benz Micro is very much in business, they have a new North America distributor. https://benzmicro-northamerica.com/ Word is Albert Lukaschek now has the helpers he needs to churn out new cartridges.
An EXPERIMENT for those who have never heard differences in cables
@cleeds I certainly agree with your comment and will not spend an extra minute of my time debating with someone who has already made up his mind. Experiences and improvements await those who keep an open mind.OTOH, I must mention that many cables ...
An EXPERIMENT for those who have never heard differences in cables
@tobor007 The intent of the original post was to hopefully allow those that have never heard a difference to hear the difference in cables for the first time.If you're looking for an opportunity to upgrade your sound, try the larger gauge magnet w...
An EXPERIMENT for those who have never heard differences in cables
@djones I wasn't ready to let the cat out the bag but rodman99999 beat me to it. The larger 8-12 gauge magnet wire does have a sound of its own and sounds really good if it fits the listeners' preference.I also have a leftover spool of 16 conducto...
An EXPERIMENT for those who have never heard differences in cables
@tobor007 I never claimed that this works as good or better than expensive cables and that high-end cable sales will take a hit, this is an experiment for those who have never heard a difference in cables. As you can see by these posts, some do en...
How often do you have to service your Studer or Otari deck ? Home not pro environment.
Nice to see a thread on reel to reel, I've posted a few times in support of the R2R format.Isn't this thread over a year old, wonder if the OP is still looking.
An EXPERIMENT for those who have never heard differences in cables
Thank you for contributing @rodman99999 , agree...using an X-acto blade would also be helpful in removing the outer enamel. Of course; changing whatever they’re using for magnet wire, will in no way tell how a good pair of speaker cables will p...
I think some cables are just a little too expensive.
There are regular cables, and then there are cables with a built-in network/component, the two are totally different animals. A lot can be done to change the sound with a network connected to it.What will they come up with next, a cable with drive...
Why high-end cable manufacturers don't post measurements?
As the OP, I wanted to see if many were interested in how high-end cable measures, most here are not concerned with it and let their ears be the judge. I believe this is the way it should be.We are in a hobby where everyone defines good differentl...
Why high-end cable manufacturers don't post measurements?
Why spend your time focusing on the naysayers....it's a lost cause, the majority on this thread are believers from what I can tell....And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Why high-end cable manufacturers don't post measurements?
Cable measurements don't really matter, better measurements haven't always lead to better sound in our hobby.Complex and "creative" cable geometries used by high-end cable manufacturers are used to alter the way a cable sound, this is what audioph...
Why high-end cable manufacturers don't post measurements?
Sure they do....my cables are clearly marked on the manufacture's packaging. My interconnect clearly state 1.0m and my speaker cables are 2.5m. You gotta look closer.  LOL! Hmmm....I never noticed until now :)
