Searching for the ideal vintage bookshelf speakers. Honestly, this thread makes me laugh. It's like you're asking "Which old, rare, finicky sports car should I buy to drive only in bumper-to-bumper traffic at 20 mph?" Then all the discussion of the nuanced differences between the Lambo, the Ferrari...

Looking at some Devore "The Nines", Current amp is CJ CA200. Extra power can't hurt. If you love the amp, it should be fine. Devore is usually shown with tubes, but I'd guess that any CJ SS gear might be a bit towards a tubey tonal signature than many others.Nines are really nice! Cheers,Spencer

Vibration Control for Lightweight Tube Components One idea for the problem of heavy cables pulling up components is the lead/brass discs that a few companies sell. Newbee help- Volume low even at full preamp volume-??? +1 @jmcgrogan2 If you have a buddy with tube tester,or a local dealer who can test your tubes it would be good to confirm that's the problem. However, most local dealers will have little tube selection. Cheers,Spencer
Upgrading to an external Phonostages for my system Much good but conflicting advise above, so I'm not going into a specific recommendation, but want to raise a couple of concerns that you want to address with whichever you choose.- Low level phono signals are much more susceptible to environment n...

Newbee help- Volume low even at full preamp volume-??? How much gain does the Rogers phono stage put out? If I understand from above the 12AU7 puts out 50db gain, but switching to the 12AX7 results in 65db gain...correct? If so, 65db should be plenty of gain to drive the .4mv output cartridge. Absolut...
