Does a Postal Money order need to "clear"?
Postal should not. You probably paid for it with cash. A money order from a bank does have to clear.
I just don't get PC Audio
With the introduction of the Wadia iTransport, you can now load everything on your ipod. It is a back up. If your computer crashes, you still have all the songs on your ipod. If you rip in lossless, and use the itransport, I believe you can beat s...
Audio refinement complete?
I can't think of a better combo under 1000 dollars. I have owned the complete integrated 5 times. I owned the complete cd player once. In my opinion it is the best integrated in it's price bracket. Atleast of what I have ever heard. It is 50 watts...
best 4.5" midrange drivers under $1K
my vote goes to the scan speak 4613 (12m) But your non-paper cone remark leaves this driver out.
YG Acoustics add in Stereophile
John, regardless of whether or not you feel a $1000 cap is overpriced has nothing to do with the actual cost of the parts. I was only pointing out that they may well have the same amount of money into crossovers as they do drivers. In addition the...
YG Acoustics add in Stereophile
You know what's funny? Their advertisement got them recognition in this forum. Bad press is still press. Atmashpere, RMAF is hardly the place to truly evalutate speakers.JohnK, the drivers are not the only thing that goes into a speaker. What if t...
What's the best player or contender's under $1k?
the wadia itransport with a dac using apple lossless on your ipod may well beat any recommendation you can find for cd players under one grand.
Mac mini
Yes, they dump right into your library. If you can't find them, check the bottom of the list. If iTunes can't find the name of the song in the Table of Contents on the disc, it will label the songs "Track 1, Track 2, etc." In which case, you shoul...

Take a look at humblehomemadehifi dot com. Tony Gee is the site owner and speaker design. He has a lengthy review on various capacitors. You may find this useful.
The Ten Rules of high-end audio
Bigbucks5 is dead on. Speakers first.
803D or 802D
I tend to agree with bob. I don't thick it's possible to have too much. You say it "seems to have too much power for these smaller speakers"What are the speakers doing that make you believe this?
UPS Shipping/Damage Claim policy experience
I shipped a pair of Martin Logan speakers through UPS in the original manufacturers packaging. They punched a hole through one of the panels. They openly admitted that they damaged it, but claim that the packaging didn't meet their requirements, so...
Nautilus 805 and signature 805 tweeter
I've owned the N805, the signature 805 twice and the new 805S. Only very slightly did I notice a metallic sound with the N805 tweeter. It never did bother me. Having said that, it is my personal opinion that the tweeter in the Signature 805 is qui...
What is a good, compact sized integrated amp??
Musicsl Fidelity x-150. Half the size of most other components.
Anyone send back Magnepan MMG's?
I sent them back. I never tried raising them up. The biggest complaint I had was that they only sounded good in the sweet spot. Could have been my room, or placement. Either way, wasn't happy and sent them back.
