Original Plinius Sa-100 series amps for Shahinians No hum problems with the SA-100Mk3. I would suggest going with the Mk3 in the SA-100 series as a minimum due to the presence of dual transformers. Good luck.
Looking for warm sounding speakers Older Sonus Faber Grand Piano Concertos. Warm and laidback and rolled-off in the highs. The Spendors and Harbeths are warm and revealing but not laidback.
Current production "budget" warm/dark SS amp? 08-19-10: McondonThanks for the recommendations. My speakers are Sehring 703s (86 dB sensitivity). The preamp is an old Aesthetix Calypso. My current amp is a McIntosh MC275, which I generally like, but it doesn't offer up very convincing bass wit...
Reliable Used int. amp for $1200? Plinius? Classe? It is a risk of going with a SS integrated when you are already used to the sound of Conrad Johnson amps. Bear in mind you may or may not get the same level of performance or enjoyment with another amp and your greatest fear might come true when t...
Is my room too small I agree with some comments that room treatments do help when a considerably large speaker is placed in a relatively small room. However, there are still limitations as some speakers will perform better if they are placed out from wall boundaries. ...
Totem-The One/ Harbeth 7es-3 I can't describe it more aptly than Nolitan and Chashas1. Very good account on both speakers. Just an add-on, the C7ES-3 will be a perfect match in the 18'x12'x8' room and will have little problems fitting in the smaller 18'x10'x8' room. I have th...
Best Late Night Low Volume Speaker Harbeth. You will get a lot of midrange and full sound even at low to moderate volume levels unlike most speakers which only come to life when played at above moderate volumes.
B&W CDM-1 original ............... opinions wanted I owned the CDM 1SE for almost a decade. Good monitors at their price range. I owned the N805 for a short period and find them to sound smoother than the CDM 1SE from top to bottom. The price one is paying for the 805 includes the beautiful curved...
Audio Research LS15 I owned a LS16Mk1 and sold it last year at $1500 shipped. Not the most dynamic preamp around but clean and reasonably detailed. It was matched with a Plinius SA-100Mk3.
Int-Amp after Rega Mira 3? What's Next? My first decent amp was a Mira 3. Sound is clear, mid and highs are detailed - analytical to the point of coldness. On some music it sounds great (electronic, classical) but rock sounds dead, no oomph, even with sub-bass.So, looking for a 'modest'...
What percentage of audiophiles use a sub ? Good responses from both sides so far. I use a sub with my speakers and do not experience any integration problems. I read that a pair of stereo subs are the minimum recommended for a stereo system but I am getting pretty good results using only 1...
Ultimate pre/power amp for Sonus Faber Memento I echo Semi's thoughts on the Plinius. It depends on system matching as always. Plinius sound great with Dynaudios but can be too warm and shut-in with Sonus Fabers. I have used the SA100Mk3 to drive lower range Sonus Fabers and the result is not ...
How far do you sit from your speakers Speakers are 8' to my toes, 9' to my ears. I wished I could sit further away but the room is the limiting factor.
McIntosh vs. Marantz ...... sonics? Generally receivers sound good with simple music but falter with complex music which requires dynamic swings. From soundstaging, 3-dimensional realism to bass slam, refinement and dynamics, most receivers wouldn't hold a candle to audiophile-grade...
Is Esoteric SA-10 sonically as good as DV-50 or 60 I briefly tried the Esoteric SA-10 in my system and although a decent CD player it lacks musicality and doesn't sound organic and analogue. Detail is good but there is just something missing with the player. It can't seem to convey the soul and em... |
