We use the tape outs to tie systems together lots of times. It works well. In addition all other sources will be sent to the other receiver also.

The best way to do it is to go out of the tape outputs on the back of one of the amps into the aux input on the other one. Then you can play whatever is connected to the amp. The cable length should'nt be a problem. You can't really split the phon...

The 5510 has been discontinued and the 5500 has been replaced with the 5500 EX. There may be a few 5510s still available. I have one myself.

Speakers that don't use foam surrounds don't suffer from foam rot.

You can get an automatic switch from someone like Niles Audio for this exact purpose.

MC transformers - what do they sound like?
The Jensens are amongst the best. Audio Research uses them in their reference phono and Rowland uses them as balancing transformers. I think though Audio Research is charging a lot of money for something you can buy directly from Jensen for a coup...

I don't own one but have always liked it. I heard it many times with ML CLSs. It could not control the bass but still had magic.

All of the ones I've heard cause harm to the bass and reduce transparency.
