Surprisingly, checking out the Goldenear forum, there was only one detailed comparison of the 1 to the 1R.  Mostly discussing the TR.I’d like more opinions.

kevn,I sympathize with you.  When my preamp was out for repair I got one with a remote control, which I thought would be great.  But it drove me crazy not knowing what the level was.

Retired classical musician here too.Just listening to Karajan’s 1963 performance of Beethoven’s Eroica on Idagio.Violins and strings couldn’t be sweeter or more natural.

GoldenEar Triton 1 speakers used or 1R new.  Very smooth.Aforementioned Benchmark AHB2 amplifier.  I combine with a tube preamp (Conrad-Johnson). I listen to 95% classical, mostly symphonic, with these components.  Never a problem with massed viol...
