Do classical CDs made from early analog tapes sound better on your system than new CDs?
Re: Brahms 1st with Horenstein on CheskyJust listening to it now. As wonderful as described, in every way.IMHO, 1962 was the apex of recorded sound.  With Dolby, transistors and the like,  it went downhill from there.
Need recommendation for CD transport (not Cambridge)
I didn’t realize it was a “ slot machine” until a couple of days ago.Probably  wouldn’t have influenced my decision to buy anyway. The deal was too good.I’ve read some very good reviews of ithe Cyrus on British sites.Hopefully it plays at least as...
Use pink noise disc to warm up stereo
The reason I went to the pink noise is that “just leaving the system on” had little or no effect. Really comes to life with the pink noise warmup after about a half hour or so.  Just playing discs as normal takes more than an hour, sometimes two, ...

Need recommendation for CD transport (not Cambridge)
Just found a demo model of the Cyrus transport on Analog Seduction for only a couple hundred dollars more than the Cambridge.  Was just about to buy it new, when i happened to see the bargain section.Am returning the Cambridge.

Twoleftears:Since I’m still in the trial period, I’m seriously considering returning the Cambridge and going with the Cyrus. The Cambridge does produce excellent results, but the flaws you mention are hard to live with on a longtime basis. I don’t ...

Need recommendations for inexpensive power cord
The Gungnir is definitely superior to the Oppo by itself.  But I found if I used the Oppo as a transport in conjunction with the Gumby it produced better results than with my Cambridge transport. Strange.  I’m still experimenting though.I can high...
Need recommendations for inexpensive power cord
I have stock power cords on the DAC and transport, but I’m plugging them into the Isotek power conditioner with the Elite power cord. Components are the Schiit Gungnir Multibit DAC and the Cambridge CXC  transport (or sometimes the Oppo 105D used ...
Does a new cd transport require break-in time?
P.S.  And Schiit failed to include the power cord I sent them with the Gungnir with the thought I was getting a complete new unit. No power cord!
Does a new cd transport require break-in time?
If you don’t like continuing sad stories, read no further.I got the Gungnir back today, and the Oppo should be coming later today.Great news, right?  I should be able to experiment to my heart’s content on the merits of the combinations of compone...
Need recommendations for inexpensive power cord
I’m using two of the high power Isotek’s outlets for the monoblocks, and the other two outlets have the DAC and the transport.  The power cord to the Isotek is very high quality. That being said, I like the change it’s made already.
Need recommendations for inexpensive power cord
The Isotek power conditioner and power cord have made a strong improvement to my system: lower noise floor, better bass, better imaging and sound staging.Well worth the $400 price I bought it for used.
