Bluetooth 5.0 vs. Apple AirPlay
SiriusXM is not that great, OK for the car.
Which device to use as the pre-amp
@rbull11  You should try a pair of Quicksilver mono amps. It's the best 25 watts you will ever hear.
Step up From Rogue RP-5
@audphile1 Rogue is great don’t get me wrong but Audio Research is Audio Research I've owned a couple of AR pre-amps. They have a place. Mostly for systems that play at high volumes, very flat sounding (flat as in good). I listen at low volumes...
Volume Control Too Sensitive
@elliottbnewcombjr   adding attenuation beyond a volume control (attenuator) so you can attenuate less before the added attenuator. are you all nuts? The Bryston puts out 15 volts, that's a lot. Attenuating the signal (pad down) is an acceptab...
Which device to use as the pre-amp
Why would you want to use an old 26wpc Marantz receiver that probably didn't sound all that great when it was brand new? Just use the Rotel until you can get something better.
Volume Control Too Sensitive
You can put 10 or 20 db fixed in-line attenuators between your pre-amp and amp. Roth manufactures them - minimal, if an sonic down side. This will do the trick or you can have the pre-amp manufacturer lower the gain but it's the same thing.
Was my friend given misinformation.
The Denon/B&W mix might be one of the better combos available at Best Buy. If he gets enough taste of what hi-fi can do, he might be back to ask some questions or maybe like my friend that has had the same stuff for 40 years? Hard to tell.
Replacement power. Ps
It looks like the Lamms are 100 wpc amps. A good 60wpc (or more) tube amp/amps might be a way to move the sound in a better direction. However the Lamms are well respected so it might be hard to do better but tubes might take you in a new direction.
Daisy Chaining Speakers
You can parallel or series wire speakers to get the impedance you need or want.

@facten Must not be much of a friend , he listened to the best buy guy and not you I have a friend who asks my advice and then asks all our friends for advice, then doesn't listen to any of it.
Amp Options - Infinity Kappa 9s
Sanders Magtech.
Atma-Sphere M60 monoblocks + ML ESL 11 = Inferior combo
Not a total surprise. That OTL amp starts dropping power big time as the impedance drops. Your ears told the story, it happens.
Is there a "decent" receiver out there that could interface with the McIntosh MXA70?
Is there a decent (meaning less than $400) receiver out there... No, not really. Not sure there are any decent receivers regardless of price, might be a couple.

Looking for wider soundstage
One way to make changes is to strip out the room, put your gear on the floor and find the speaker placement that works the best. Then start stacking your system and see if it has an impact, then start putting furniture where it needs to go and ass...
