Buffer amp no gain @erik_squires You literally just described the reason preamps exist. Yes, Erik has it right, the pre-amp can amplify the signal, it also attenuates the signal and sends a signal to the amp at the right impedance. I've never seen a top audio sys...
What are we objectivists missing? @mitch2 Nobody here is building a space shuttle. Well not anymore, I'm retired.
Integrated tube amp with phono pre - need recco Not many choices in that price range. How about a Schitt Freya+ with an outboard phono amp?
Do you consider cables to be a "component" of your system? @erik_squires They are terrible choices for tone controls. They are but if your system is bright, for example, the last thing you want to do is add a bright cable into the mix.
Schiit Loki + Mini Users How is it hooked up? It shouldn't be running very hot, let's see what others say.
Audiophile Tool Bingo Good ears and a good music source.
Mcintosh MC7300 or Mc402 Do you have Klipsch horn speakers or Klipschorn speakers?
would using the onkyo a9150 with Thiel CS6 speakers be safe? I have an A-9050, it's 75 wpc vs the A-9150 65wpc. I have it hooked up to Moth Audio single driver speakers and it runs out of gas pretty quick. A Musical Fidelity M3si has way more guts, the M5si would be even better.
Marantz Ruby PM KI amp vs Accuphase e-480 or e-380 Just looking at the guts of the units, the Marantz is nowhere near the Accuphase amps. The Marantz has small caps, small transformer and small heatsinks. 100 cheap wpc can run out of steam pretty quick. Get the E-480.
Do you consider cables to be a "component" of your system? Yes, I do but I need to hear the system first before I put the final tune on it.
Politics and Music But the point is that music is for entertainment, not education It's OK to make a political statement through music but you may limit the number of people that want to listen to it. I give artists a break for expressing their viewpoint using m...
Factory service for products from the 90's Wasn’t "factory service" but I have had no problem getting servicing or repairs done on my McIntosh gear. Some older gear is readily repairable as long as components are available, newer gear with specialized IC chips and the like are basically...
Killer vintage 70's, 80's reel to reel to add to my setup. Revox is a top choice. 1/2 inch 2 track if making your own recordings.
Plant/Krauss Tour Plant is an interpretive singer with his own style. That's why he was so good in LZ. When you go see him it will be a unique performance and probably unlike anything you are expecting. Just sit back and enjoy his song stylings.
Factory service for products from the 90's Nobody wants to stock and pay tax on repair inventory that might sit on the shelf for years. The 90s were 30 years ago, it's not very feasible or business smart to provide repair service for items that old. That is really asking for a lot, 10 year... |
